I swore all the time as a Christian. Even in my home. Until one day I saw a look on my 6 year old daughter's face that cut me to the marrow. I fell on my knees and asked God to remove this from me. He did. From then I could no longer swear. It felt like the word would get stuck in the back of my throat. 18 years on and not a single curse word out of my mouth. God is mighty to save!

Very convicting...and it doesn't stop with just cuss words! If I'm following that scripture and only using words that edify and give grace, then I must also eliminate gossip, slander, complaining, and backbiting. I have work to do (by God's grace).

The Holy Spirit convicted me of this earlier this year and once I heard Him say to me that I needed to stop, I did. As believers we cannot use foul language it sullies us.

Thank you for calling attention to this. It really bothers me the Christian’s that use foul language. This was the first Bible verse I ever memorized as a teen.

My family ridiculed me when I brought this up-even the young children are cussing. It bothers me and my daughter because it is against God and they do it SO MUCH. I’m certainly not perfect but when I learn something is out of God’s design and will -I do my best to stop. My family’s reaction and mockery makes me wonder if they are converted. If one isn’t convicted, are they converted? Thank you @jonny your preaching is 💯

Yesterday was my spiritual birthday Im 28 years old in the Lord. When I accepted the Lord as my Savior He changed my life completely on the inside and out. I no longer dress the same, talk the same, nor act the same. I am a new creature old things are passed away...which means I no longer do the things I once did)

One of my sons used to defend the use of foul language based upon changing definitions, cultural shifts and even said the Bible uses vulgar or common words. I cited Ephesians 4:29, and simply asked "But does it give grace to the hearer, not just who you're speaking to, but anyone who hears you." He no longer argues his point. While I can't say he quit with such language, he know longer speaks that way in my hearing. Our language will align with our hearts; that includes subject matter as well as word choice. We will speak like the one we love most.
