This literally is making me feel so much more confident in starting this journey. I remember struggling with pre diabetes in high school (with an also very shameful and unhelpful mother) and sitting there sobbing feeling like the very next thing I ate would determine if I had diabetes and no one told me things like this. I felt so powerless because all I was being told was the food pyramid but portion control wasn't helping and also, cravings were so hard to keep under control to maintain the portion control! I wish someone would've even told me this, after that I continued on to be very restrictive and developed anorexic tendencies. No lifestyle changes has brought me not to be pre diabetic again but now my blood sugars are high and I'm having the same panic. This makes me feel like I can start TODAY and make an impact. I'm so thankful I came across your studies and words!

They also told us saturated fat and cholesterol were bad for us and replaced those with sugar and seed oils.

I thought there was a recent study where they attached constant glucose monitors to different people and found personal factors played such as sleep and microbiome made their glucose levels different.

I’m 240 which I don’t really look like it I was told by my doc to loose weight to improve my labs since I’m Obese, I’ve always worked out difference was my labs were pretty bad, but in a year I started eating my veggies first and carbs at last. I was able to have my glucose levels very normal and the rest of my labs I’m overall very healthy despite my weight.

Indian (down south) meals are like one bite carb mixed with protein ( rice and Sambar/dal) next bite veggies ( kootu, poriyal, aviyal, varuval), this continues untill you are full. Then comes sweets ( usually payasam)

Omg this is so interesting. Iam a Bengali from India and this is the sequence we follow in a Bengali meal!! We do atleast 3 course for our every meal. And we follow the same order : veggies, protein and then the desserts
