It come down to a number of factors;
1 - Obi-Wan had trained Anakin and fought along side Anakin.
2 - Anakin was arrogant and couldn’t control his emotions. While Obi-Wan remained focused and grounded.
3 - Anakin/Vader couldn’t fully detach himself from Anakin. So when things got personal, they were deeply personal. So, Anakin wasn’t fighting some faceless random. He was fighting someone that he knew. As a result Anakin/Vader just lashed out, driven by an almost blind rage.
4 - the Jedi trained on a curved scale, so that fewer would progress too far or too below their peers.
5 - with Anakin, this was further complicated by the fact that as the Chosen One, he was far more naturally skilled than his peers and could feel that his potential was well beyond them as well. As a result this (& 4), Anakin never pushed himself to his limits, it was all too easy for him. Essentially further holding himself back from reaching his full potential.
6 - Lastly, he misunderstood the prophecy of the Chosen One and conflated Force potential, skill, physical strength and youth, with how powerful and skilled he actually was at the time and that as the CO, he was automatically unstoppable.

Anakin lacked Conviction on Mustafar, this is what it all boils down to.. which in a way makes his lesson of conviction to Ashoka even deeper. Anakin understands through personal experience how lost you are without conviction. Obi Wan on the other hand had clear conviction in what had to be done on Mustafar despite his love for Anakin.

Even Hayden Christensen said Anakin was unfocused and that his strength comes from focus.
Against Dooku he had focused anger, against Obi-Wan he was unfocused

Kenobi is still so damn underrated. Everyone keeps talking how Anakin is powerful, but no amount of talent or even training is useful if you have no wisdom or cunning.

I think Anakin actually loved Obi, even though he was conflicted. He even apologized to Obi before he went to face Grievous. So I feel he held back.

Obi and Anakin did not need to fight at all. The Sith had won, there was no Jedi left, Obi and Yoda could do nothing really against them. They should have just ignored them, unless they got in the way.

I always thought that Anakin had "tunnel vision" while dueling obi wan, never thinking too far ahead. Obi wan seemed to be more mindful of his surroundings, looking ahead for any advantage. But, when he got the high ground, it was Anakin's arrogance that did him in.

Kenobi was always going to defeat Anakin or Vader. Because Obi-Wan was more skilled in The Force than those around him realized. Not saying that Obi-Wan was as powerful as Mace Windu or Yoda. But when he fully focused on The Force, Obi-Wan was not too far below Mace Windu in overall power.

He lost because of one reason. The only reason why Akakin went for dueling Obi-Wan begin with was he saw his failures as a Jedi and a Husband was Obi-Wan's fault. It's what Akakin said in Episode II to Padme after his mom died. After losing his mom, then having problems in his marriage with Padme and seeing Obi-Wan went to Mustafar to take her away from him. He then saw he nothing left to lose. He could had stopped himself when Obi-Wan told him "don't try it! I have the high ground" but Akakin had only one thing on his mind. That was to kill Obi-Wan Kenobi but instead Akakin killed himself and officially became Darth Vader!

Anakin literally fought the entire Jedi temple with his troopers, fought dozens of masters and other powerful Jedi, killed all of them. Then is sent directly to Mustafar (I don’t imagine he slept in between) and then had to fight the best defensive fighting style of all time master while the weight of everything happening tormenting him. It’s a testament to how powerful he was that he was still fighting on equal footing with Obi-wan after all of that

I agree I thought that logically Anakin was stronger when he fought doku. As even though he briefly tap into the power of the dark side at the end of the duel, he still remains on the light side of the force even refusing to kill doku at first. He was simply better at using the light side of the force as he had been training with it his whole life. On Mustafa, Anakin was conflicted and in a state of mental wreck he crying about killing younglings, agrueing with Padme and he was not even fully committed to killing his own master. His appearance rage in the duel was more of him venting his frustration at the event that happens. Anakin got obiwan by the throat at one point during the duel and didn’t crush Obiwan neck with his Mechanical arm, choosing to slowly try make obiwan submit. He was clearly conflicted about killing his master as he was some crying when he was talking to Obiwan on lava river. Anakin could have been turn back to the light side by Obiwan if he had tried harder to convince him and even Obiwan realize this later on. Vader always had too much good in him making weaker in the dark side.

I always thought it had something to do with Darth Sidious and Yoda fighting at pretty much the same time so like maybe the dark force has limits when being used so much by one person it weakens it for another, it can't be a coincidence that Kenobi won while Yoda lost and Sidious won while Anakin lost.

In the Revenge of the Sith movie, Darth Sidious tells Master Yoda "Your arrogance blinds you" and Darth Vader speaks with much arrogance in that duel with Master Obi-Wan... down to the last moment.

Because Kenobi is more strategic. He recognized the opportunity to jump on to the high ground.

It's simple, Anakin didn't want to kill his best friend and the reason he challenged Obi Wan's position is that he believed Obi Wan felt the same and would show him mercy but he didn't. That is why their battle was so long and why it ended the way it did. And why Obi Wan was haunted by what he did. Obi Wan taking the high ground meant he won the battle, but striking his friend down meant he lost the war. It meant he lost Anakin to the Dark side.
