I love how quickly Palpatine's tone of voice changes from that of a seemingly wise mentor to the one of Darth Sidious. Notice at 0:40 how differently he says "sit down" to Anakin and "leave us" to his entourage immediately after. Same at 2:15. Take a close look how his tone changes while he says "all those who gain power are afraid to lose it" and then accentuates the phrase "even the Jedi". It's like his true self comes forth for only a brief moment then hides away again in the shadows. Tremendous acting.

The acting from palpatine is outstanding, best Sith ever by far

I love the moment at around 3:00 where Palpatine pauses. He realizes exposing the moral failings of the Jedi won't be enough to shake Anakin, so he pauses and switches tactics, instead going right for the throat with the possibility of immortality. During that pause you can see the gears turning in his head as he forms a new angle.

I love the way he so cheerily greets Anakin and invites him to sit, and then with a cold, deadly tone orders everyone to leave and they do without question.

I do love the cheerful "Sit down :D" immediately followed by the commanding "Leave us >:L". His mask slipped a bit.

Reading the Darth Plagueis book makes this scene SO much better… The amount of backstory that all led up to this short dialogue is immense and amazing.

When he said "Ironic, he can save others from death but not him self" he made it sound like he knew exactly how Plagues died --- like he was there.

Say what you want about Hayden, but to me he really nailed that doubtful teenager kinda personality George was aiming for.

When he talks about the Jedi being "selfless", you can see it in his eyes and just by the tone of voice he uses that he really doesn't believe the words coming out of his own mouth.
He's only saying it because that's what they trained him to believe. A domesticated savage fighting against his own nature. A brainwashed slave from Tatooine.

I'm glad Hayden's finally getting the recognition he always deserved. Such an awesome actor and looks like an amazing and down to earth human being.

For those who didn't know, in this scene Ian McDiarmid (Palpatine) had a terrible sore throat. George Lucas didn't want him to perform that day so he can rest and gets better but Ian was the one who actually wanted to. This shows the kind of great actor he really is. Thank you for the video.

"The Dark side of the Force is a pathway to many abilities many consider to be unnatural" One of the best lines in Star Wars. Ties in well with what Yoda told Luke in Dagobah "the Dark side is not stronger, just more seductive" Anyone wanting power would find the Dark side very tempting. Palpatine knew exactly how to play Anakin.

The way the emperor rewinded the game and tried another angle was masterful. He let the first attempt fail, thought for a sec and came right back at him. It makes you wonder if he intended to fail his first attempt on purpose to plant the idea to reenforce the second idea.
