Doesn’t have to be one or the other, I drink both. My husband had to see a Hepatologists (liver specialist), she advised him to drink 2 cups of black coffee a day. My husbands liver test went from concerning to normal. So I’ve started doing that as well, plus I drink green tea and/or hibiscus tea throughout the day.

It’s green tea, green tea is much better for you. A half a cup of green tea is more beneficial. I drink both coffee in the morning green tea in the evening.

I'd like to know how green tea supplements stack up vs. green tea. Not everybody can get 5 cups of tea drank.

I found a video of Dr. Michael Greger on how cold steeping Green Tea makes its antioxidant capacity 10 times more than steeping it in hot water.
Before going to bed, I soak some green tea leaves in a cup of cold water, cover it with a coaster, sometimes, I put two or three squeezes of lime juice and let it cold steep.

Love it, early in the morning!!
Now that Summer is approaching in India, I'm loving it

Sometimes, I add a Lil Kombucha to the cold brew overnight. Makes it even healthier.

I do both. Two cups in the morning during fasting before my first meal and 1-2 cups green tea in the afternoon.

Would you please look at Yerba mate and Kauchava products for health benefits. Thank you!

I drink 4 cups of organic green tea - not the matcha variant. It's amazing, and even helps with my chronic pain.

Does drinking decaffeinated green tea still have the same useful benefits as non-decaf?

Any info, good or bad, regarding plain black tea? I think I'll try mixing green tea powder with my black tea.

well how about this: if you have the time to drink 5 cups of green tea a day, you're more likely to be less stressed!

@Thomas DeLauer does it matter if the green tea is caffeinated or not?

Conclusion: coffee on fasting days, tea on feeding days :)

And the type of green tea matters! You should go to a specialty shop. And try to get green tea within the same year that it was harvest, high mountain ⛰️ tea 🌱

Great data Thomas! Question: do the studies on both Green tea and coffee discuss what they consider to be ONE CUP? In cooking, we say 1 cup = 8 fluid ounces. But as you know, go to your favorite coffee joint, and 1 cup is greater than that amount. As with tea, if you go to a tea place, the cups are quite small and they simply give you a teapot to refill your little tea cup as desired. So what is the size of the cup of tea and/or coffee that they are referring to? Thanks and keep the great content coming!

Great video, interesting research. My suggestion: have both each day to get maximum health benefits. Following Tom's guideline, have the coffee while fasting/not eating, and have the tea after or with meals.

I beat this drum in every video about the benefits of coffee and tea, but it bares repeating. Hot cocoa is also similarly high in polyphenols and catechins, and can offer many of the benefits described in coffee and tea. The only reason it's not more widely known and discussed is simply that it's consumed less by the general population, which in turn means less funded research has been done/promoted.

A quick way to make a no-frills hot cocoa includes the following ingredients: hot water, unsweetened cocoa, your sweetener of choice, and a dash of salt.

You can of course add other spices to taste, like cinnamon for example, but the above is meant to be a minimalistic approach to the beverage. Again, I want to reiterate, I have nothing against coffee and tea, I just want to help shine a light on other methods of achieving similar results, that fall outside of the commonly discussed or researched.

I prefer green tea since its caffeine content does not induce insomnia in me. Coffee keeps me awake at night no matter when i drink it. So, I keep clear of coffee. Green tea also keeps me awake if i drink it in the afternoon to evening.
Most of all, drinking a cup of green tea in the morning keeps me energetic without experiencing an energy crash in the afternoon. I mix it with blended moringa seeds for an even more potent mixture that supplies steady energy and stamina throughout the day.
