How to tell if you're investing like an idiot or genius?

When you're looking to judge how effectively your portfolio is either (a) being managed or (b) allocated - use the handy Sharpe ratio. This determines who gets hired and fired on Wall Street - why not use it to determine if you should hire or fire your advisor or YOURSELF (if you self-manage).

We use it as part of a much bigger assessment and planning process - but it may be a good litmus test for your own financial planning.

Common causes of low Sharpes:

1. Frequent trading
2. Heavy risk taking or concentration in volatile sectors (high volatily, but low returns, bad stock picking)
3. Overlapping funds, sector ETFs, or otherwise redundant assets (eg. poor diversification)

So, what's your shape?

Don't simply retire from something; have something to retire to. Start saving, keep saving, and stick to investments. Building wealth involves establishing routines, like consistently setting aside funds at regular intervals for smart investments

Warren Buffet sharpe around 0.79. Having high sharpe for a year is one thing. Maintaining it is another.

No clue, our company's 401k program no longer allows us to pick the risk level of our investments any more

You're doing a fantastic job! I need some advice: My OKX wallet holds some USDT, and I have the seed phrase. (air carpet target dish off jeans toilet sweet piano spoil fruit essay). Could you explain how to move them to Binance?

I'm guessing my sharpe is nearly 0 as I focus on index funds with mild diversification into REIT and value indexes.. by definition, index are intelligence free options ;)

I think you meant to type “are you investing like an idiot or genius”, not “are you an investing like an idiot or a genius”

A genius wouldn’t make that mistake 😂
