Pattern hair loss – or androgenic alopecia (AGA) – is one of the most common hair loss disorders.

AGA can be diagnosed by a medical professional. Having said that, we can also glean insights as to whether we might have AGA – all by looking at the hairs we shed, and determining if they have something known as hair diameter diversity.

Hair diameter diversity is a term that describes differences in thickness across hair strands. If hair diameter diversity of greater than 20% is present, that implies we probably have some degree of hair follicle miniaturization: one of the defining characteristics of AGA. This greatly increases our likelihood of getting diagnosed with pattern hair loss / AGA by a doctor or dermatologist.

It could also be telogen effluvium cuz I had this same issue and I’ve been going thru it for 2 years already on my temples. Same hairline, no recession or nothing. The hair thickness came back but I got stressed again and then it came back again. Currently my hair is back to normal. It was a weird period of my life because my dad has a full head of hair, great hairline, and my brother has a juvenile hairline with fine hair naturally.

That’s me! I’ve been taking 1.25mg fin daily for years but now I’m getting increased shedding and miniaturization. Why is that? How can it lose effectiveness? When if your a guy with long hair and lose lots of small short hairs? Diameter is same as other long hairs. But they are just short and all pretty much same length. I never loose any long hair. Just little short hairs
