Stop Doing Biceps Curls Like This!⚠️

Показать описание
This is one important biceps curl mistake to avoid during your biceps workouts. It makes building bigger biceps more difficult and increases the chances for injury. When performing biceps exercises, don't allow your elbows to flare out to the sides. This takes your biceps outside their optimal line of pull and puts more strain your shoulders, wrists and elbows. This usually happens during biceps training when you try to lift too heavy. If you want to build biceps effectively, keep the elbows tucked in toward your sides. Apply this arm workout tip on your next arm day and you'll feel the difference.

I found this to be a problem with dumbbell curls mostly, I have a habit of making sure my elbows don't flare out.

"I've never seen anyone do this!"

Guys, I'm obviously exaggerating the motion here a bit to make it clear what the specific error is, and this is also more common on dumbbell curls as opposed to barbells. It's usually the result of trying to lift too heavy where the movement is initiated by flaring the elbow out to the side to bring the shoulders into it. I'm not claiming it's SUPER common but I've seen it enough times to just point out that your elbows should stay tucked into your sides during curls so the biceps are in the ideal line of pull, and because it will prevent unnecessary stress on your elbows and wrists.

I have been doing that mistake but thanks to you not anymore. I really thought that was targeting the bicep more. Thank you ‼️

If you gonna curl, dont use a bar like that one. Use a curl bar, or better yet a ez-curl neutral grip bar. Enables you to do curls without too much tension on your supinating muscles causing inflammation in your Antebrachium, also known as forearms.

Yes, I've never seen anyone do this...
If people lift too heavy, they usually involve bending backwards and using front delt to help.

Yeah and some people do the oposite with dumbells, they press their body with their elbows to make it easier

Lol I've seen this. Friend of mine curls the same weight except he does the flare. It's because when he was younger I'm sure he had a lot better form and started at lower weight.

Probably went up to a high dumbbell weight doing good form but then took a long break due to college/gf for a few years.

When he started working out again, he went straight to where he left off instead of going back down a few weight increments or two.

I've done this a couple times but I usually notice this at the very end of my set, when the reps in reserve is very close to none. When I see it, I take a step back, check my form and redo my reps that I've done with that bad form.

in reality it's only a matter of a few degrees of flare that can put your joints in a less than ideal plane for the movement but it wouldn't be very noticeable in a video. all in all tucking your elbows to your sides is good advice whether one has seen it done other ways or not.
