I had a terrible biter and one day it just stopped.
I corrected her, when it came to furniture and gave her other stuff to bite on.
When she bit me too hard, I made a high sound like other puppies would do and she let go immediately.
Now I have a huge grown up dog who can control her bite force easily. Sometimes I get a finger in, when I hand feed her...not a problem at all.
She play bites me all the time and it is very gentle.

Shark mode...I kept quite a few long term engaging toys suitable for biting and rough play, took awhile to find her favorites but it was the best way to work with it. I carried them with me whenever we were together. ❤ sure was a solo pup and didn't have the littermates to help learn what was too hard or not.

What do you do when your puppy wants to play and would rather bite your hands and feet rather than their toys? We try redirecting and yelping or yelling ouch makes him bite harder. I’ve been saying “no” and redirecting with his toy and saying “toy, yes”. It seems to kind of been working depending on the situation. But when he’s super playful, it becomes aggressive.

What if they bite you not because they are bored but because they are not having they way. Like if you are forced to removed inappropriate objects from their mouth, and do not listen any commands you trained them on (i.e. drop it, leave it, sit). Can’t grab the lead because they are bitting down your hand. Can’t keep walking because they are ripping off your clothes and bitting down your ankles. Just venting here but also need help 😬

The problem I am having is with my kids not being able to play with our puppy much at all. Not really independently anyway. I pretty much have to keep her with me on the leash if she is out and the kids are home. Otherwise she plays too rough with them and bites them or their clothes. She does well with me though.

every time we touch or look at our puppy it bites us and our kid. We've tried everything and she just shreds our daughter. No one talks about this, but it's super common.

This doesnt work for certain dogs and certainly not my cane corso. Just saw a method where when they go to bite you and you grab there upper mouth and squeeze gently to where the teeth now goes into upper lip. Will try that today.

Then what happens when they’re bored ? Or simply out of control?

As soon as he bit me, I would make a sound, signaling him I was hurt.... And if he didn't move *press his tongue firmly with your thumb, in his mouth*
Press it a few times, he'll stop biting you

Well said! The truth is that you need to set them up for success! Help them, play with them, occupy them 🎉 engage! They are living, breathing, and have an intelligent mind and life to live. They aren’t objects to have to lay around and just cuddle once in awhile, it takes work 😊

This doesn't work at all. :)

Tried it with my dog, no success. Because the dog wants to nip you, not a toy.

I decided to put my dog in time out everytime he nipped and he doesn't bite as an adult German shepherd either. He only chews toys

Positive reinforcement doesn't work at all

I need some suggestions to tire my Charli out when we go outside. She’s almost 9 wks old and I take her out on my break, lunch and when I get off but it doesn’t seem to exert all her energy. So when it’s time to go to bed she’s usually up in her crate for the most of the night, I’m currently letting her out every 2-3 hours at night.
She was doing so good for a few days but now she’s back at nipping 😩

My pit puppy, shes almost 6 weeks old, bit my granddaughter, shes 8 yrs old when she tried to hold her the pit tried to get away or maybe she was holding the pit where it was slipping from her grip and my granddaughter was probably gripping too hard as to not drop her and maybe that was why the puppy bit her as it was trying to what seemed to me the puppy was trying to get out of her grip, the bite did draw blood on the skin, so it did pierce her skin, should i be worried about the bite, we washed it well and put Neosporin 🤷, and what about the pit will it affect her attitude after biting out of aggression??

What should you do when your pup just gets excited for food or the toy in your hand and they bite, mostly accidentally? I want to teach her to take things from me nicely, and she doesn't bite me if I'm not holding something she wants (plenty of toys and such), but I can't figure out this one. Is it good to correct her, or should it be something where she shouldn't be able to accidentally bite and its on me more than her?

Okay, how do i do this though? My puppy has tons of toys and teething tools and stuff but still draws blood and bruises me

I have a question for you about my 5 month old

Yeah. Prevent biting/nibbling - and prevent the bite inhibition training as well. Good luck at the Vet when your dog bites full force because he never learned to control his bite force or when you have kids or strangers and there is an unlucky moment.
