My Labrador puppy was absolutely the most insane puppy biter ever. I’m an experienced dog owner and I am a professional dog walker who also does many puppy visits and my OWN puppy was the worst biter I’ve ever encountered.
Nothing worked for me. The long line in house, did NOT work for me. I could pull it and pull him off and he thought that was just a tug and pull and fun part of the whole biting game!! He’d bite the house line and happily then continue to work his way up to my hand!!
What really worked for us was aggressive redirection with HUGE praise but also, spreading a tasty treat across my hands and fingers and praising him for LICKING my fingers and hands.
So his first instinct became to lick hands to see if my hands contained a tasty treat and even when they didn’t, I’d praise him for the initial licking and then he concluded, that hands were for licking!!
It was the only thing that worked to calm the biting.
If you are at your wits end and have found yourself here, on yet another video that does not work for your aggressive biter, then try my method.

This is what we did with our puppy due to your channel. It helped so much. I noticed with dogs in our family who were just brought home and didn’t have a line, they would get away with poor choice behaviors so much easier. Use a house line with a new dog or a puppy to help your training.

House line is 100% the most important and transformative tool to train a puppy.

What people don’t understand is that play with their hands with dog or cat. Then they are surprised why they bite back? Never use your hands to play or to punish. Hands to feed or give love only. Hands are giving only. Then they start respecting hands and no biting. For playing interact only through a toy. Thats why leash works, not through hands but through leash. My cat never bit me, he loved my hands and seek attention to my hands, keep it warm, and kisses only. When you play with your hands, play is always associated with attacks, so they bite (even playful small bites) and it is natural. People create problems for themselves on a first place especially kids unknowingly. Pets are not toys they are companions and should be treated with respect.

This looks really good and easy. With my two months old puppy I had to hold the collar tight today as he is really going for my hands. I really hope that this didn't scare him but it seems to be working as he is now more cautious of my hands. He's still so young and I wanna make sure he understands clear boundaries but also maintaining a trustful relationship. Btw, this leash trick didn't work really well with him haha
Thank you for posting all this great & valuable content. I am learning a lot from you <3

This is true 100%
If you pull you hands away, even by accident because of biting then the pup will just jump up to ur face

❤ I always leash new dogs until we are both comfortable. People give me pushback and act like I’m being mean but I’m just setting us up for success.

I have our first puppy arriving in a month. I've never heard of this line idea before. Will definitely be studying this more!

You can use an authoritative voice too … more than one way to train a dog. 😉

My journey started by selecting the right breed for intelligence… the rest was learning from other dog owners and going by my gut instinct. Now I get my dogs to behave by simply talking to them and it makes it so much easier to love them 😂

Just rescued a pit boxer mix and have 2 small children so I’m trying to really get ahead of all of the training. This video helped so much, thank you!

What I do with biting I find it works is I get a chew toy, either soft or hard, and I divert the bite to the toy. My pups bite when I try to brush em because sometimes theres an itch and they usually wanna bite their itches! So what I do it get a chew toy that is flavoured, or a soft plush and either hold it for them to bite or I stick it up and hold between my knees while the pup is on my lap. If they jump on me, I get up, cross my arms and ignore em till they sit down.

I have tried and tried to do the exercise to stop my puppy from biting/nipping. It's not practical to give treats all the time. I have even tried putting my puppy in his Crate when he's biting. It's not enjoyable having a puppy, it's stressful

Thank you. Learn a lot from you for sure. We have many digs but just adopted a labradoodle puppy and she is now 4 months and a handful. Very very smart but a handful. Putting a leash in her now for in and out of home. Appreciate you sharing this stuff with us.

Thank you! This definitely helps my new puppy is a jumper. I didn’t have this problem with my chiweenie mix as a puppy and my other one my boxer mix I got as an adult. But my new goldendoodle mix is 3 months so I’m training her still and she’s a huge jumper

Thank you so much I have been looking for a good solution and couldn’t find anything until now

Yeah mine still bites with the line if you try to grab the collar with it she still goes nuts she also jumps so it’s definitely a training process for us both. Frustrating having a puppy we should all adopt senior dogs haha less work more reward. Kidding 🤣

I WISH I had found this video 7 months go😮
It was a lot of frustration and cryin the first month before finding a way to redirect the biting (having a stuffy on hand and seeing when she'd try. Stuffy into mouth, showing her what's bite-able and what isnt allowed)
