For anyone reading this: I know that dog training can be difficult sometimes, but you're doing great. Keep up the good work, and your dog (and your own sanity) will thank you for it! ❤️💕

This is incredibly timely! I have a 6 month old German shepherd behaving similarly. He is not malicious, but the mouthing is simply too much.

Props to all of us here who are open to learning and better communicating with our furry loved ones. I'm happy to see so many of us not blaming our family member but trying to resolve our own shortcomings in communication to result in a positive environment for all.

I never comment on videos but I was just able to pet, cuddle and scratch my puppy for 10 minutes straight with NO biting! I have tried so many methods of correction and this is the only one that has worked. Thank you! ❤️

Last night I was so upset with my new 9 week old miniature dachshund because his puppy biting was out of control, he was launching himself at me and I was bitten again and again. I searched YouTube to see if I could find a solution and wow how fantastic Will’s training advice was, it worked and this morning after two attempts to bite hard my boy is a different puppy. I now have an adorable playful puppy and haven’t received any further bites. Can’t thank Will enough and I will certainly be checking out his other training advice and tips 😊

I think the moment at 6:22 shows beautifully that you haven’t broken this dog by correcting her, or scared her in any way. She was corrected, listened and then immediately expected a belly rub. That’s a comfortable dog who’s understood that the correction was about the behaviour, not you asserting some stupid sort of dominance and you being generally aggressive and untrustworthy. Love it!

This is incredible. I have a 3 month old Chihuahua and been struggling with puppy biting for almost a month. Tried this technique for 15 minutes and COMPLETELY changed her behavior. Hands down the best puppy tutorial I've followed, I've been stressing fighting the biting almost drove me crazy!

I tried to follow this advice a little while ago but my 5 year old daughter got upset thinking I was being cruel to her puppy, so at best it was a half hearted attempt. Today, I had a rare hour to myself. At first my attempts to stop the puppy (pug by the way, about 4 months old) were pretty fruitless. I think my advice is, if they still see biting/attacking you as a game, then you need to be more harsh. I was in a room with a lot of space, and it got to the point where I was pretty forcefully pushing him away, quite some distance. I never struck him, more of a very firm push, and he was never going to hit into anything, but I was getting stonger in my resistance to him biting. Less than 20 minutes later he was much more calm, not nipping me or bitting me, lots more licks and still a bit of teeth on skin but nowhere near what it was. We went out to a kids party and after coming home he was much better. A tiny relapse but with another firm push away he is as good as gold. I'm expecting to have to reinforce this in the coming days, but following the advice above the change is pretty remarkable. Don't be afraid to be strong if you need to would be my advice, so long as you won't physically hurt the dog. This bloke knows what he is on about. He's the dogs bollocks.

I just tried this technique with our 9 week old puppy when she was in crazy-bitey mode and it worked instantly to change her behavior. It required very little force. Merely this new sound paired with this unexpected correction worked wonders.

After trying solely positive and passive ways of addressing this, I’m amazed by how well this worked.

Thank you, Will!

I can't thank you enough for actually HELPING people to be better handlers and trainers of their dogs. Other trainers out there can be so belittling, sarcastic, and rude that who would ever want to ask a question for fear of being chastised.

By putting out content like this, you’re really being active in helping people become better leaders for their dogs and in turn making sure people can keep them so they aren’t surrendered and ultimately put down. Thank you Will 🙏🏽 I have an 8 week old gsd who I’m training and he is biting me more than is acceptable. I’m going to keep correcting him and hopefully I can be the leader that he needs to be a good dog!

This video was so beyond helpful. My 6 month old German shepherd puppy exhibits intense mouthing and I was previously unable to achieve that “off” command. I quickly realized that while it may feel a bit uncomfortable giving an intense hard correction, once I exceeded my pups intensity she caught on very quickly. I was below her threshold of intensity before, and she wasn’t understanding that enough is enough. I will be incorporating this into training/play time every day! Thanks for the awesome content!

Thanks Will! I have a 4 month old German Shepard without a malicious bone in her body but she gets really excited and has knives for claws and a shark for a face and this is really helping calm her down

I'm so glad I found this guy's videos! My 10-week-old golden retriever had been biting me constantly for the past two weeks since I got him, but now he's almost stopped biting and is so much easier to manage. It happened so quickly!

This technique worked perfectly.... within 5mins of using the "touch" technique on a 6 month old puppy no more biting! Yes occasionally my puppy need a little reminder however we went from constant biting to no biting in 5 mins. BRILLIANT!

This training tip works incredibly! Even for a nipping and teething ten week old labrador, we’ve found his behavior has changed immensely even from a single play session similar to this video! No more nipping and if it occurs, one correction and he’s got the idea to keep us out of his mouth! Thank you!!🙌🏻

They are so forgiving. They make mistakes, and we do too. Its a companionship. And its a learning curve for everyone on how best to teach and since every dog is slightly different we have to keep reimagining the possibilities of how to learn. German shepherds are the best though, they are beyond loyal and affectionate, their ultimate goal is to make you happy. Never had a better friend.

Oh thank you so much!
I'm so scared of doing something wrong when it comes to training my new puppy, but this helps a lot!
I've just had her for 5 days but she's recently started biting and just thank you! This is both comforting and amazing!

Wow, this guy knows what he’s talking about. I always felt bad on the dog, but since I’ve used this method, without watching this video. I have the best dog ever. Thanks for the reassurance, this will give me more confidence going forward.
