You don’t need 3 types of magnesium. This is both costly and potentially dangerous. Also you want magnesium that is chelated. Not all magnesium glycinate sold on Amazon is chelated magnesium glycinate. Some companies combine magnesium oxide with glycine because it’s cheap and this is equivalent to fraudulent marketing and labeling. Chelated magnesium glycinate is the product you want. Now the capsule will have a 400 or 500 mg size noted on the package. The ingredients will list how much is actually elemental magnesium chelated to glycine for better absorption including into the central nervous system. Usually it is 63-65 mg of elemental magnesium. The RDA for magnesium is 310 mg/d for women and 410 mg/d for men. Most should be coming from your diet such as in seeds, nuts, avocados and leafy greens. Toxicity is rare and for those with kidney disease (and children) should not supplement with magnesium without a physician’s supervision. A magnesium level in healthy people is not helpful because most of the magnesium is stored in your bones. A level may be helpful in deficiency states such as in alcoholic sand those taking diuretics. Magnesium is not well studied in the sleep literature although some recent studies have appeared. There are a lot of influencers who promote supplementing with magnesium who have no understanding of the biochemistry. It is true that the literature indicates many adults don’t meet their RDA for magnesium in the standard American diet. Always consult with your physician before your start a new supplement. Be well.

You are correct.
Magnesium oxide has only 4% absorbtion rate. That is what doctors prescribe, because the insurance is cheap and fraudulent.

The best one is Magnesium Bisglycinate, and the 2nd best is Mg Glycinate.

Some magnesium glycinates have oxides in them so if one is especially sensitive it might be best to avoid them and go with a more tolerable citrate dose
