I spent 2 years in an LDR vetting and getting to know my 35yo Filipina whom I met on Cupid. I figured it was constructive use of the lockdown time when I otherwise could not be in the Philippines. You can really get to know a woman well that way and weed out the red flags if you don't send them money. We discussed what we expect of each other and what our roles will be. I'm now in Manila on a 2 month visit with her to see what she's like in person. Since meeting her at the airport she's even more beautiful and sweet than I expected. She's taking care of me so much better than any of my previous Western relationships come close to. Now I plan to return next year permanently to live my life with her.

"Never Asked for Anything!". That is the key for many of us. Found mine online. Had gone through several online prior to this who asked for money, support and turned out not to be truthful about their life stories. Then found a good one. One conclusion I came to was to stay away from younger women. I wanted a wife, not a daughter to raise. Kids were ok but not babies or really young kids (mine has a 22 yo daughter). As I focused on older women (35-50) I found much more mature, seasoned, life experienced and hard working women. Then I found the one from Bohol. Cares for me like you described, good with her family. Now after 15 months here she is exactly who she said she was. No regrets and much happiness.

Do not send money to someone you haven't met - for sure. You might get lucky, but the odds are quite low. Next phase, have a girlfriend budget, and stick to it!

👋🏻 hi Mike, I met my wife in 2004 on line, yup even back then 😂 was a lot different then because there were Internet cafe’s and no smart phones (big problem today). Chatted 4 months, sent a to of $100 over that time(big spender or cautious?)before the long flight from the east coast, spent 3 weeks there and set her up with an apartment and returned home to settle things up to moving there and married her 6 months later. Lived and traveled all over the Philippines with my wife and newborn baby after a year of marriage. I had a very nice military pension, a college education and found a job teaching English at a Korean academy, became the Principal and then Marketing Director and traveled all over SE Asia on the school’s dime. Left in late 2010 for our daughter’s education and returned to Boston where she is and has always been a high honors student and a beautiful person inside out. Singer, guitarist, flutist and pianist at the age of 14 now in High School. My wife and I will return to our home there being watched and lived in by her sister and family until our return. I was 44 and she was 29 when we met and now 59 and 44 😂 time flies when you’re with the ones you love the most ❤️🙏🏻👍🏻💪🏻 That’s my story and I’m sticking by and to it. 😂

Back in 1993 I and my wife began writing letters to each other via snail mail. About sixteen months later I flew to the Philippines and met her. When I saw how she acted towards me and her mother who was with her I knew that If I went back to the States a single man I’d be a loser for it. We married in the Philippines and this wonderful woman has blessed me with three sons and a wonderful loving companionship with her. It was someone who knew my wife that played a role in getting us to write each other.

Make sure her husband is dead, if she is married and her husband is still alive, but has been gone for a long time, doesn't matter how long, he can come back and blackmail YOU OR HER for being with his wife, there is no divorce in the Philippines, you can get in trouble for being with a married woman if her husband find out, you've up shot creek without a paddle, make sure that they are free, no marriage. that's a NO NO.

Hello Mike, I'm Mike also from California. Retired and moved to Thailand, established here with car & 2 motorcycles. All my friends in Thailand are Filipino. So I'm going to the Philippines this December.

Can't understand all the hateful comments. Your sharing your experience both good & bad. I know because we all make those same mistakes.

Nothing beats being there in person, and meeting people in person. One of the benefits of being in navy is port visits.(and any place the navy goes, there are filipina girls there.) I met my filipina in hong kong early 1990's, while my ship made a port visit. i met her at a bar, but she was a housekeeper just out having fun dancing. I spent a couple 30 day vacations in hong kong, and then got married in 1996, and brought her here to USa. Been married ever since.

I believe I got lucky, I met my fiancé on Filipino Cupid and we were ldr for 2 years because of the pandemic. She has a lot of great characteristics of supporting her family, caring, loving and very sweet. I got a good girl and I love her!
