Hate those… but it gave me an excuse to buy more tools

Wait until you randomly need a ribe bit and start screaming when none of your torx bits fit 😂

In a real honest world, they would just stick with the best design, the one that's least likely to slip, strip out but no, we got to keep buying more tools.

I was a Mercedes-Benz tech for 8 years. They also use external triple square fasteners. Also, for most of the triple square fasteners on Mercedes-Benz front and rear end parts, the square drive on a 3/8 ratchet will fit inside the fastener giving you extra clearance to get them out.

I’ve seen both of them but only had to actually remove the second. I’d be concerned about stripping the first one with a regular socket. They seem to be a quality steel, but they’re likely on there pretty tight.

Yeah that last one is coming out with a big flathead screwdriver 😂😂😂

E-torx bolts on the Saginaw steering box in my Jeep CJ7.

Triple squared… or a 13mm socket or wrench will do. Unless it’s solely triple squared.

I love Torx. Pretty much impossible to strip out except by dummies with impact guns. For what it's worth, a set of external Torx sockets is nowhere near expensive enough to risk rounding off a high torque bolt. Likewise, triple squares set is a must if you deal with Audi/VW on any regular basis. For what it's worth, quite a few manufacturers use 12pt rather than hex head bolts e.g. Toyota head bolts. Kind of like an external triple square.

More tools, please. Annoying, but if you're a wrench its required. Stay dirty my friends 👍

Why do they use these over normal bolts? What are the advantages/disadvantages? I should know because it was part of my college learning 15 years ago but i forgot...

Even the engineers have to be getting sick of all these fasteners by now. They have to make separate tables for each type when they do their calculations.

Yup, I needed e-torx for my wife’s Durango. An American car, assembled in Mexico with parts made exclusively in china 🤦🏽‍♂️

Buy a Toyota and you never have to work on it

But all cars have one thing in common..
Not only the nuts on them, but the Nuts
in them... 🤔

With these fn volkswagens you only gotta work on them once to get this crash course. You need a weirdo socket just to swap out an actuator lol

That’s why all those cars suck I am a huge Mercedes fan and Chevy but why they decided to put torq bits and e Torqs and regular socket just for a stater like 2004 bmw 7 series there’s no need

Bro you can't use a 6 point on an E Torx.. you need a 12 point.

And now Jeep (fiat) loves to use “MorTorq” bolts and sockets. God I hate them.

And that’s a harbor freight dual head ratchet
