Just wanted to make it clear that I suggest using these strategies as tools, not as replacement. If possible, they are worth doing.

And if you want to help me create better videos for as little as a dollar a month, then consider becoming a member. It's greatly appreciated

i think a reason why most people sleep on jumping to evade attacks is that the attacks dont LOOK jumpable
i mean...look at the video, the flame of grodricks breath attack goes right through your head, the lightning of the dragonkin soldier goes meters up into the air and so on
why would anyone expect an attack that visually goes very high to be jumpable?

"Make sure to explore first"
Me exploring first: *unintentionally advance NPCs quests I didn't even know existed into phase 8/12 without ever even meeting them*

Ive seen a lot of Elden Ring videos DLC or not that suggest they have some incredible knowledge to be bequeathed even to expert players and then it turns out its just stuff like "bleed is broken" and "kill the mother dragon at the start of your game". This is the first video that humbly gave me more knowledge than all of those videos combined. Thank you, you absolute legend

You're missing a very important trick. You can mash r1 and l1 during grabs to take less damage and escape faster

The hardest thing about jumping is unlearning to just roll. But after this vid I’m gonn try harder to jump over attacks that are low to the ground. Really great vid so far

The reason you can't parry that pumpkin head's weapon attack is probably because it's a flail and flails can't be parried. Maybe the one with a big mace can be parried?

My favorite camera gimmick was in dark souls 3 where if you unlocked your camera against the nameless king and turned it away from the boss when he summons lighting bolts from the sky they would completely miss you instead of tracking you like they're supposed to

Have I missed it, or have you forgot to talk about how the (i'm not kidding) *majority* of people don't use shields properly?
The massive advantage of shields is, that you are invulnerable to most attacks in the game, while you hold the block button, at 0 cost. The only thing holding the block button does is to slow down your stamina, which means it is truly free while at full stamina.

Now that alone isn't "super overpowered", yes. But what people seemingly *always* fail to notice, ... is that you can just simply dodge roll out of block. With virtually no delay.

Which means:
If you only dodge roll: You have to be careful not to dodge too late, which significantly increases the risk of dodging **too early**. Especially in Elden Ring, where opponents love to delay their attacks, you often see people rolling around multiple times before the opponent (i.e Margit) finally strikes.

But if you use shield + dodgeroll:
If you fail to roll in time, what happens? Guess what, you simply block the attack and negate it. It will cost a lot of stamina potentially, but your HP is untouched (or dmg heavily reduced, if the attack was infused with magic/elements)
This ultimately means that you don't need to be scared at all about being too late with your dodge roll, and you can truly focus on dodging on reaction to the actual attack, instead of predicting when it will land on anticipation.
This actually trains your brain to be much more comfortable with dodging on sight, rather than on anticiption, and eventually you can even stop using a shield in many situations, being more skilled then you'd ever have been without using a shield.

people prefering rolling over jumping can be attributed to the fact that most of the attacks don't look like they would be able to clear the actual attack, like the tree demon worm things, took me awhile to figure out that you could dodge the tail swipe by jumping despite clipping into it mid swing

The thumbnail and title somehow scared me away from the video but after days of avoiding and seeing this video in my recommendations i finally gave in and its full of good advice thank you

I really loved this video. You should do a more comprehensive video on weaknesses, crafting, ash of wars and other stuff that people don’t know. I’d watch em all.

Fantastic video, visited for the first time after seeing Aston’s reaction and love how much insight you provided on these mechanics and how clearly you explain it and demonstrate the value. Great content!

This is definitely eye opening. I have a bad habit in games being narrow-minded, not deviating from what I know and flooring metas. I definitely need to experiment more before and during the dlc

Once I learnt about bosses reading inputs and stopped spamming my buttons the game became much easier. Never roll or attack spam. The enemy is waiting to punish you.
