"Black alert"

Nobody tell the captain of the Voyager-J that the spore drive could have nullified their historical namesake’s epic struggle across the delta quadrant to get home

Discovery: *jumps*
Starfleet: "I'm gonna pretend i didn't see that"

To be fair maybe those 2 captains were not in the bubble 3 weeks earlier. But probably a little hard to confine information to a room when someone is using an experimental ship in front of a small fleet - going let's show'em who we are - aight!.

That sure was a great, secret spore drive we had once... good times, good times!

When they said they were jumping to the future, to be "free of continuity", they meant all continuity, even within the show.
So they can save money by going with a script's first draft.

I still don't understand how Discovery can be a secret. Plenty of people know about the "spore drive project" in Season 1. When used during the war, Discovery became a legend in the Federation. Klingons even had a nickname for it. Then in Season 2, the spore drive was used in front of countless ships. That includes non-Federation ships like Klingon Empire, and that MASSIVE final battle. And now your telling me not a single person, or alien kept a record of it? That even the Klingons kept quiet about it? That NO ONE talked about that big fleet battle with Control? I don't buy it.

well they popped out of the bubble... but nobody knows where they went, how far, and how quickly
and maybe that one dude wasn't there to see them depart

Even sadder is I bet the Disco writers room thought viewers would get chills hearing Burnham's "Let's show them who we are, BLACK ALERT!" it just falls so flat

Discovery suddenly disappears.
Crew of a Starfleet spaceship: Captain we have an emergency, Discovery has disappeared.
Starfleet Captain: Pay no further attention, just ignore it.

This entire series makes perfect sense...as one of those episodes of classic Trek when someone slowly realizes that they're trapped in a hallucination/malfunctioning simulation/telepathic illusion.

Lesson 1, treat the audience like they are idiots, don't explain anything, don't mention the science behind what you are doing.

Am I the only one that always cringes a little when they say "Black alert"? Sounds like their clan meeting was interrupted by some unwanted intruders.

Chris Rock would probably be amused at the thought that they declare Black Alert right before the saucer rims start spinning.

It's sounds so goofy when she is the one saying "Black Alert"

And you can also see the smirk on her face as she's doing it.

Alex Kurtzman checks notes ’um the spore drive effect causes any ships sensors or people viewing it while it jumps to not recall or have sensor logs of the event, it's a sort of “neuralyzing” effect.’

Tbf, it's a proven fact that most SF admirals are insane, evil or Both.

They literally have a comms officer on station everywhere, watching everything, and 1 little blip that was there, is all of a sudden gone would get people asking.
