10C Aliens in Star Trek Discovery are Not that Original

They shoulda made 10c those jellyfish from “Encounter at Farpoint”. It still woulda been dumb but at least it would have been an interesting sequel idea. I mean I know they covered it in one of the Titan novels with Riker, but since the DSC writers don’t have an original idea between them, nor do they have the capacity for new ideas beyond Michael crying, they shoulda just pulled out the blue and pink space jellyfish. And Michael could have saved them. Because Michael.

I think I actually prefer the Cosmos aliens' design. Less...what would you even call the style of modern CGI aliens like these? "Disco Baroque"? "Rave Rococo"? "Sullivan Guaranty Ayahuascan"? "Unreal 5 Gothic"?

You have to wonder if Jordan Peele didn't watch *Cosmos* as a kid, and it was this that partially inspired the creature from *Nope*

Marc Miller and Frank Chadwick created a science fiction roleplaying game called _Traveller_ in the 70's. It was later adopted by Steve Jackson Games to become part of the GURPS franchise. One of the alien creatures you can find in gas giants are the Sheol, giant squidmothers miles in size who are sentient and communicate via biological radio transmissions. They can break down and create various compounds and use little messengers (floaters) to reproduce and fight of parasites.
