The worst part of these symptoms is knowing if its anxiety or now COVID. I'm going nuts about this!

I have been dealing with this very thing for about 15 years. It started in my early 30s, just out of the blue. It ALWAYS happens when I’m just doing nothing: not stressed in the least, usually just watching TV or doing something enjoyable. I don’t “become anxious.” There’s no mental wind-up for me.

It almost always starts the same: I feel like my heart stops. I don’t know how to explain it. It’s like, you always subconsciously KNOW your heart is beating along, you take it for granted, but then suddenly it feels like it’s gone. I’ll feel for my pulse, and I can’t find it.

Then my adrenaline surges. It feels like my whole body “rushes.” No other way to explain it. It starts at my core and rushes out to my limbs.

THEN, the mental panic sets in. At that point I am sure I am going to die. I’m an ICU and cardiology nurse of 25 years, and the clinical term for this feeling “impending doom.” There’s no better descriptor. You are absolutely certain that this is the end. It doesn’t help that my nursing background causes me to suddenly think of every catastrophic thing that could be happening inside me.

I have called an ambulance several times. The most recent time, a few months ago, I stumbled outside and sat on my front porch to wait for the ambulance because I was afraid I would pass out/die before I could unlock the door for the paramedics.

I have had tests, procedures, been admitted and monitored. I am well-medicated. The meds help, I think, but nothing seems to completely prevent these episodes.

15 years of this, and each and every time it happens it is a mental struggle to not call an ambulance. The humiliation of feeling fine again halfway to the hospital is what usually stops me - not any sort of certainty that I’m not actually dying.

I don’t want to be “that patient.” There’s so much stigma in the medical world around anxiety. And how do you explain to a group of medical professionals/strangers that you are actually NOT an anxious person? That you’re actually a SUPER chill person whose body betrays them every so often??

I honestly think I have PTSDc from having so many of these non-triggered panic attacks. I feel like I’ve become hyper-vigilant to every little thing happening in my body, and any “weird” sensation could potentially trigger an attack. I feel like this hyper-vigilance is now it’s own form of chronic anxiety.

Ugh, it’s really a vicious circle.

Thank you for the work you are doing to bring awareness and community to this incredibly frustrating condition.

This is so comforting to hear because everyone I have in my life has never experienced panic attacks and it’s nice to hear about someone else who has experienced the same symptoms! Reassures me that I’m not going crazy 😅 Health anxiety is probably one of the hardest things I’ve been through. Thanks for the video!

Been getting those palpitations where my heart rate goes up seemingly out of nowhere. Been to the E.R. twice about it, done an echo, many many many ekgs, a stress test, 1 week holter monitor and currently waiting for results on a 2 week holter monitor. All of the results I’ve had so far are normal and doctors say that I’m fine but its hard to accept even though the only thing I’ve been diagnosed with is anxiety disorder 😥

Listen man I just want to say thank you from the bottom of my heart your channel has helped me so so so much it’s kind of crazy how much actually, I started this anxiety battle around the beginning of august had my first panic attack stemming from a sharp muscle spasm that I though was a heart attack I didn’t go to the doc because I was afraid of hearing bad news same as you until I obviously couldn’t handle it anymore and had a really bad panic attack with the shakes and everything went to the hospital and everything came back a ok but because it took me around 3 weeks to even get checked my anxiety grew to a point where I’m still dealing with it thanks to my doctor and your videos I realized a lot of what I’m feeling is muscle tension in my chest even though sometimes it’s hard I continue to tell my self it’s nothing just muscle tension just keep it pushing same thing you say will help and it does it honestly does so please please don’t stop what your doing it really works wonders man 100% not only for me but I’m pretty sure thousands of people!!
