Thank you so much. Now I can't sit without thinking, "You're crushing your butt muscles." Your videos have been extremely helpful. After doing nothing but sitting while working from home when the pandemic hit at age 64, I didn't do anything and before watching your videos--didn't think I could. I can now Asian Squat, and am working at using that position through the day (30 seconds at a time now that I can breathe) I can sit on my heels, and I'm walking one or two miles a day. At 67 I have better mobility, and feel better than I have since my 30's. I also stretch a little every chance I get. You're helping.

Great reminder - i watched this video standing up! For me sitting is fine. but the longer i sit the more it hurts my hips and hammy's to get up. My general goal is spend at 15 minutes of every hour doing things around the house

I watched this last night. I love your videos. I just started the hip series, yesterday. I am already moving better. I've been told I have bone-on-bone arthritis. I've been told..."If you don't get surgery (full hip replacement) you will end up in a wheelchair." This was told to me by a doctor. However, NO ONE I've met with EVER talks about the muscles. I find this to be a missing piece in our medical system. Everything I see and practice in your videos makes sense and helps me. Even if I had surgery, if my muscles are not working right, I will still be in pain. So, I look forward to continuing the Hip series you've put together. THANK YOU! The video above tells me I need to do a little bit of movement in-between clients.

Instead of a good chair I bought a power standing sitting desk. When my butt gets tired I stand. When my legs and feet get tired I sit back down. With a touch of a button my desk adjusts. Best $200 I have ever spent.

Set a timer at 30-45 minutes to get up and move. Makes a huge difference.

I can’t tell you how much I needed this advice! I have hip and back chronic pain, it’s really hard to work from an open space office precisely because I can’t freely do those moves to balance out the time I have to spend sitting down 😢 When working from home and able to take frequent breaks to activate my muscles, it makes a huge difference in my pain management and sleep.

For the last two years I have been using a large (65cm) Pilates ball along with an adjustable standing desk and I am very happy. I still have back pain for about 60 seconds after standing up but I attribute that to sitting for long periods of time and not taking frequent enough breaks.

Overall I give the Pilates ball a B+.

Pros: They're cheap and allow for a lot of bouncy movement. They force you to use your legs constantly for balancing on top of it.

Cons: They're not very adjustable though they do come in different sizes and can be deflated if too high. Challenging, but not impossible, to play a guitar while sitting on one.

After just one day of doing the FAI fix I see a definite improvement.
I noticed that after a long winter and more sitting than normal, that's when my hips really started to complain! I am normally not sitting for hours at a time. I get up often but that still didn't prevent my issue.

The metaphor of the weight on your forearm was a big aha for me. Thanks!

Fact of the matter is we were just not created to sit 8 hours or more a day. We need and require movement. Thank you for this video

The voice of reason and experience. You’re so right !
I’ve done many exercises to get better, yes I improved over months but at what cost ?
Those exercises were mostly quite difficult, at least uncomfortable, ineffective or counterproductive, not adapted to me and therefore unlikely to motivate me long term in the midst of whatever else I’m doing.
Yours are sustainable long term, can be done anywhere.
After a half an hour of your very simple exercises I already feel a stronger effect that I didn’t get with the more difficult ones. I expect to be sore tomorrow. Very grateful !

very good. so easy to get lazy now that im retired. so tempting to just lay around even though i know too much of that will ruin me. no wonder so many die soon after retiring.

Thank you for your videos! Your advice is no nonsense, upfront, honest and helpful. Your knowledge in how the body works and how to alleviate pain and discomfort is so helpful and so easily explained. I have hip issues and your videos have helped me alleviate pain, move around more and just possibly avoid a hip replacement! You offer so much more than orthopedic doctors do!!!Thank you so much! I look forward to your next video

As a gamer and writer, I would spend a lot of time at my desk, when I damaged my L4, L5 and S1 back in 2020, I could barely sit down on my computer chair or even on the couch without being in absolute agony. My husband had a Secretlabs gaming chair which could adjust to being in Zero gravity mode, so he swapped chairs with me and I was able to be at my desk a lot longer. Fast foward to this year when I came across your videos Matt and between them and the computer chair, I can spend hours on it with no pain and have done so for 6 months now (that's how long it's been since discovering your videos).. I also managed to talk a friend out of getting the CT guided injection for her back pain as I got that 2 years ago and made me worse off and instead, got her to check out your videos and the last 2 months have been the best for her as she's had a massive reduction in pain

Hi Matt, I'm 63 yrs old and I've had a failed S1-L4-L5 fusion with adjacent segment disease (ASD) with 4 bulging disks above the fusion site for 20 years and I've managed to live with it by listening to my body and doing what works. Now my R hip and thigh are so painful I've had to take months off work and cancel my life. 9 months and 5k dollars later, I've seen six doctors, 2 chiropractors (30 sessions), had 2 injections, 8 x-rays, and an MRI - and now I'm told I need a spine injection. And guess what, Matt? I'm still out of my mind in pain and have no answers. Here is what I've been told so far: FAI, torn labral, torn gluteus, bursitis, arthritis, L-4-L3 nerve impingement. I don't have any more money to purchase your programs, so I'm trying your YouTube suggestions. Question: is it possible that if the ASD is impinging my L-4-L-3 nerve, focusing on muscles will release that impingement? I would LOVE to know what you think about pinched nerves in the spine. I'll be using your free resources until I can afford a program.

Super inspiring and life-changing video. I’m taking several of your online courses and yet this really just added a whole new dimension. Very excited.
