If you were going to start a brand shiny new religion, Jerusalem, where you would be stoned for picking up sticks on the wrong day is pretty much the last place on earth you'd try your luck.
Rome or Greece would welcome your new religion with open arms.
So either the apostles fell out of an olive tree and boinked their heads, or they were telling the truth.

I’m a casual CC viewer & I can’t tell if Cameron is randomly putting his face in to react or if they’re on a video chat together 😂

"Because the bible says so" is not evidence 😂

No! But... people made up the resurrection AND the diciples!

While I’ve arrived at the same conclusion, and am a Christian, I really don’t see the power in this argument.

She basically said that the disciples said it, “so it’s true.” This offers confirmation to those who already believe but nothing that actually points to independently confirmed historical accuracy.

Most important word in this video is "claimed". No credible evidence to support those claims.

The disciples CLAIMED...I want to know why u put that word CLAIMED in your sentence why not leave it out?

Yeah, or maybe the claims were part of a made up story. Once you are able to prove that it is factual, you can then follow on and work on the next bit.

The best explanation we can come up with is a invisible flying spaghetti monster 😅

I mean that video is only relevant if you actually believe we can attribute the claims of the gospels to the disciples AND if you actually believe the disciples were risking their lives specifically for the claim they saw risen Jesus. I don't think we have sufficient evidence for either of these presuppositions.

Germans in ww2 risked thier lives as well

This claim has 3 major problems:
1. Eyewitness testimony is often mistaken. For example, roughly 70% of false convictions are due to mistaken eye witness accounts. Just because you think something happened one way, doesn’t mean that is what really happened.

2. The idea that people won’t lie here is kind of bogus. Many people in positions of authority will lie about what has happened to control their followers. Furthermore, if they aren’t lying then they could just as easily be mistaken. People who are wrong will still die for their beliefs.

3. This all assumes that the apostle eyewitnesses actually wrote these accounts. There is not enough evidence to prove or disprove the writer of Matthew, Mark was not an apostle or eye witness, Luke (if he was the writer) was not an apostle and only questionably an eyewitness, and finally John likely was an apostle and the author but that leaves us 1/4 on eyewitness accounts which isn’t exactly convincing.

So many unfounded assumptions in one statement.

What is the good evidence that they were risking their lives? Outside of church tradition, how do we know any of the disciples were put to death over this?

I'm not convinced that the disciples risked their lives preaching Jesus' resurrection. If they preached, they probably preached the way the earliest two gospels read, i.e.., much to say about Jesus' commands, and very little to say about his resurrection. Of course, Paul is no exception, Christian scholars disagree as to what extent the book of Acts reports true history.

I was frightened that she was going to deny that Jesus had risen from the dead. Whew ! ☺ 🙏

Everything really can be simply boiled down to: *Believe the Bible and you'll believe Christianity*

I don't have good reason to believe the stories in the Bible are true. I don't think a man walked on water. I don't think a man came back from the dead. I think maybe the disciples could've started legends around Jesus and 20-50 years after he died these legends were written down.

So who would've risked their lives then? No one.

If these are just myths around a real person then none of the disciples really risked their lives because the stories of them hanging out with Jesus after he died aren't true.

A fundamental question is this: why believe any of this to be true?

It's just a book. A silly one at that.

This clip doesn’t get into the evidence, but testimonial evidence from eye-witnesses in the face of persecution is compelling evidence to me. For those interested to know why believing and non-believing scholars don’t deny the disciples’ existence or the sincerity of their beliefs, any research on the topic at all will give those answers. From there, believe or don’t believe, but at least contend with the data and mainstream scholarship.
