The actual reason for 1lb per bodyweight is

Because supplements & companies advocate such a high protein intake it makes the customer believe that eating the supplement is more easier than having to stuff food down their throat

Sure protein is important but it has become OVERVALUED to the point people act like carbs and fats don't matter

I believe this is facts. Just look at prisoners who practice consistency, discipline, and volume with less than 1g per pound of body weight. They wouldn’t be able to achieve what they do if it were true.

Prisoners are living proof you don't need a lot of protein or any steroids all you need is high volume body weight workouts desire and consistency and eat over 50% carbs in your diet or energy.

Yes, this is the NSCA’s research however if you read meta-analysis’s on this subject other studies have concluded 1 gram per lb of body weight is better, especially when in a caloric deficit.

I personally don’t restrict myself from eating different stuff. I take my protein daily and make sure not to make myself hate the food I eat

Honestly the best is a gram per pound of lean weight. Say your 15% bf, 85% of your weight, say 200, so you eat 170 grams, or if your 30 percent and 260 your going to eat around 185 because you dont have a need to consume sp much protein for adipose tissue compared to muscle tissue

I mean yeah but through my own experience and talking to others, there’s no 1 size fits all with anything. Best advice is to try things and see how you respond. Personally aiming for just over 1g per lb of body weight helped me the most. I weigh 191 and aim for between 200-220g of protein.

One thing I’ll add is that I tried upping to 250g and that was too much, my gut was not happy and swapping for some more carbs and fats helped.

Good advice though, just got to find what works best for you

"you need to eat 1 gram of protein per pound of body weight."

Me, who weighs a little over 300 pounds: Fuck.

For the record, yes, I'm working on losing it. I probably wouldn't be here if I wasn't.

Facts 👏
I used to eat so much protein when I was younger and there was no point! I didn't have as much energy because i was lacking nutrients i needed.

Cutting: .6-1 Bulking: .8-1.2
Therefore, 1 gram per lb is adequate for both regardless of your goals

I do .8 grams per LEAN BODY MASS. Why? Fat doesn't need protein, so I don't add into the equation. My gains have been consistent and will compete in bodybuilding in May.
