It does not come naturally to me to pause and process, then react. It is so easy to be angry. Thanks for the vid

This is great information. I have bipolar disorder. Sometimes, the pressure is just too much, and I bubble and blow up like a volcano, destroying everything in my path. Anger and vitriol will flow through me and out of my mouth like lava. I never mean it and I love and cherish the people around me. I manage it much better now than I did when I was newly diagnosed. I do everything recommended to prevent episodes. My therapist taught me that there are some emotions you must work out physically. That made sense to me. My favorite thing to do to help diffuse my anger now is to throw ice. I throw ice as hard as possible against a fence or even my walk-in shower wall. The ice smashes to pieces and I feel calmer. I also learned to do jumping jacks, run, and push against the wall as hard as I possibly can. It’s been much better for me and my loved ones.

Feeling angry makes me fear being abandoned in case I express my anger. That's why I used to suppress it. Lately though I've been practicing expressing my anger immediately without worrying about the consequences while preparing myself to be in worst case scenario abandoned. Idk if that's a healthy approach though.

Yes i agree but what are some actual in the moment positive coping skills to help get the anger out without anyone being hurt in any way?

Dealing with narcissists makes taking the high road very difficult. I respond calmly and reasonably and am accused of yelling when it's anything but (and much more was deserved than I even gave!)

I think at some point, you just need to develop a tolerance for intense emotions, see it as an opportunity to adapt that'll help you handle even worse future situations in life better, and not let it get to you or blind you/make you lose self awareness of how you're coming off. If another person, situation, thing is the cause of anger, it's difficult but simple because how you perceive or respond to the same bad thing can make a night or day difference. If there's an obscure source that continually causes a chronic, sustained deep anger in you, the only option you have is to face that emotional barrage with a clear head and correct your actions that are the source.

Perfectly said. I prefer to express anger immediately in a healthy and rational manner instead of blowing up or just suppressing it. This only occurs if I'm stuck in an environment where clear communication and healthy boundaries are not a priority and I have to switch to survival mode.

My wife tends go to anger over her primary emotions. Then she can neither feel nor identify her hurt or sadness. How are those tendencies in people related to expressing their anger?

I usually yell, just a gaaahhh or 😅 Not directed to anyone. And the I feel the anger is gone.
