HOW TO BLEND CAR PAINT like a PRO

Hey guys, have you ever wondered how to blend car paint and clear coat so you do not have to paint a whole body panel and even if the paint is not a 100 percent match it will look great. Check out how we used a Spay Paint to blend the paint on this Chevrolet. We did use finish 1 clear coat but you can use 2k Spray Can Clear Coat as well. As you can see for being a $15 paint job it looks great and most of the people will never noticed that it has been painted.
Let us know what you think about this paint blending process.

Thanks for the tutorial. Ignore the internet heroes below who don't like your stuff. I have a 15 yo car that I just want to make presentable. You guys showed me how to do that! Shop wants a thousand to do it right. I don't want to do it right! Just make it presentable and get on down the road. I think your repair looks great (a little yellow) and is much better than how my fender will turn

Thanks for the vid. If this was black, when you blend those sections this job would be a big F up :D

The paint is not 100% similar. At 13:39 you can clearly see the yellow shade in the new paint.
But a really good job on painting it. I know it's hard to paint match light colors

Did you sand the whole fender lightly to roughen original clear coat for blending?
Looks great !

Seeing all of the negative comments by people who seem to "know everything" and seeing the results of this video makes we want to blend my own paint issue. Yes the paper towel lint, the fact that it wasn't a perfect color match, and maybe his spray technique wasn't textbook...and on and on...the only thing that I am concerned with is the compatibility of the spray-can base coat and the urethane clear. Otherwise the results for that kind of vehicle may be good enough. It came out pretty good I think, and again I only would be concerned if there is a reaction issue between the two paints. Oh yeah and another big point here is that every body shop (that I know of) would never blend, and they will sell you on the fact that the whole panel needs to be painted and lately the prices have been insane, I was getting $500 quotes for a scuff and paint for a single fender without clear....for black...so that's another reason I am going to attempt this on my car.

paint paint part was good work but i got anxiety with how you sprayed the clear coat and how you sanded the edges at the end

So you don’t sand the area down? Just the place where there is the primer?

did you sand the existing paint before blending?

I find spraying water with a little dish washing liquid in it reduces the danger of over heating and burning the surface during the power mopping phase.

did you sand the entire area before painting and if so with what grit ?

how long do you wait until the clear coat dries before the rubbing compound?

I know most people don't like this kind of work, but if it's for your own car who cares. I would rather see people trying to make thier cars look more presentable than have junk yard looking vehicles driving around the town. Professional autobody services are extremely expensive ( a scratch can cost $1000. dollars if they have to paint the whole side) and some cars are just not worth it. Please also keep in mind that many people are facing hardships with this whole coronavirus situation. I would never discourage anyone that tries to maintain or just make something look better. Again, this is directed towards personal use and not a sleazy, lowdown way to patch up vehicles for a quick sale. In that case I would condemn it.
