It's the equivalent of smacking on top of your tv to get a good signal back in 1980's

That's it guys, we finally arrived the moment in human history where "kick the electric device" solution is actually viable.

"Give it a good crunchy twist"
This is how I broke the screen of my tablet in 2017.

Seeing this made me realise mine has this but the idea of twisting it gives me the fear 😂

The light leak around the edges happens because the screen isn’t seated right (happens because they heat it up to put it in and then as it cools it contracts and the seal can get loose). Instead of twisting it, just get a heat gun and put it on low for like 30 seconds and then gently go around the edge of the screen with fingers and press down on all four corners at once. Should fix that problem. But don’t turn the heat gun up all the way and don’t put it too close to the screen and don’t just keep it on one area. Unless you want to start a fire then by all means

Backlight bleed is unfortunately not a Steam Deck problem, but an IPS screen problem. Every IPS screen will tend to have at least some level of backlight bleed, even high end tvs and computer monitors can have it.

Much less scary approach I saw wwad applying pressure to the spot where the gradient is and slowing pressing harder till it dissapears them holding for a few more seconds. Worked on mine

We have to see the quality improvements on future revisions but Valve sure did a great work for the 1st gen also the expanded catalog of pc gaming is awesome

I cant believe that Jesus just bought a refurbished Steam Deck

Feels like the correct solution should be a compressible frame between the screen and case to kill any potential light bleed, as long as that doesn't compromise cooling.

Hopefully, now that valve should be aware of this, they can start addressing it during the refurbishing process and nobody has to crack their deck's neck going forward.

That blacklight bleeding is a danger on all LCD screens (which most of the TVs and monitors are, except for higher range, like >$800, though QLED is expensive and still also LCD) It sometimes, but not always, can be fixed by massaging the spot, where it is happening. You aren't very likely to get a refund because of it, same goes for a few dead pixels, from most brands.
