This is a game dev, anti-cheat issue. But the more people that move to Linux for gaming, the harder it will be for the industry to ignore that segment in anti-cheat.

They work with Linux, but the anti-cheat blocks it because it does not like the device environment (detects Linux as an operating system, compatibility layers etc). Easy Anticheat worked with Valve to make a toggle to allow it, and for games that use it all the developers have to do is enable it.

They are very upfront about the fact that a lot of games aren’t supported on Steam Deck, there is even a website to see if a game is supported or not.

I've yet to find a game that won't play on the steam deck. Where there's a will, there's a way.

The trade off is that Linux is incredibly performant and isn’t full of random bloatware like windows is. Proton is an absolutely incredible achievement

YouTubers really need to stop advertising these expensive ass onexplayer, ayaneo etc because bruh, seriously 3 quarters of these peoples cannot even fathom being about to afford any handheld that’s upwards of $1000 and still have TERRIBLE battery life. Literally just boot windows on a separate micro sd card. Windows supported games on windows, and steam supported games on steam! Its a piece of cake

Just because those games say unsupported doesn't mean they won't work. Most of my unsupported games work just fine on my including Modern Warfare 2 🤦

It's not a steam deck problem. It's a developer problem! The problem is lack of developers enabling the anti cheat for there games. Example of this is rainbow which is using battle eye, which has linux support now. There are also root kit ant cheats that not only create security problems but also are able to access everything on your PC. This is because it will boot up before your os even boots up. If anyone is planing on playing games with a root kit anti cheat ask yourself this. Are you OK letting your friend install something on your PC that allows them to look at everything you installed and have on it? If no then you shouldn't play COD mw2 or val to begin with. For anyone wondering on how to remove the root kit from your PC, you can't! Well you can but its not worth it, just back up your stuff and reinstall windows.

Why does no one seem to know how the verified system works? It doesn’t mean the game works or doesn’t work, it’s just telling you if steam verified it works or is at least playable without tinkering a whole lot from my experience

There are a multitude of ways to play AAA games on the steam deck, and for someone like me who plays very few of the Trash AAA games now. I guess I have no reason not to get one.

The biggest issue is the battery the games will make sense later once they’ve fully optimized the graphics card, the local data sync and hardware utility.
