"The OS isnt up to par with other consoles" SteamOS uses very old software that over time has received constant updates and is modern. It uses the Linux kernel which was released in 1991 and recently received the 6.1.12 update in February. The desktop environment is KDE, released in 1998, received the 5.27 update in February, and is widely considered the best desktop environment. Arch (the distro SteamOS is based on) was released in 2002 and regularly receives updates.

Totally worth it. It can still run any game available and it's control layout is the best that can be designed

I haven't got into emulating yet, not much time and you have to tinker a bit even with emudeck. However, I just got into playing from bed and setting it in a pillow, and I have managed to play way more than before.

I'm playing Psychonauts 2, and apart from some small fonts in some maps, it is so good.

And the sleep functionality is great.

I’d argue that’s it’s better than the Nintendo switch with no stick drift and some of the best games along with being able to get emulators it’s a good pick up

I will answer that question.. Yes it is worth it.. I have a PC, GPD win 2021, 2 Anbernics, Quest 2, PS5 and All of those are mostly parked right now since I got the SD.. So yeah I think its worth it..

If you want a portable pc that can run a crap ton of heavy games, handle emulation up to even the switch, be able to stream games via xbox gamepass, much more and can afford one than the answer is clear. If you are someone that loves to experiment with various features and plugins of a device without feeling frustrated due to something not working or limited by a systems capability then the answer is clear. Buy one! The base model isn't that much more expensive than the switch and your getting better value if you meet the above criteria. :). I've already been playing Wind Waker HD on it for awhile now. A game that Nintendo still hasn't brought to switch after years of pointless speculation. I have access to the original Wind Waker with a randomizer patched into it and with an HD texture pack as well! Plus the 2 trackpads will make you not want to go back to any other portable device after using them. That and online backups for your steam games are free.

I don't necessarily think it's just for pc gamers i feel even a console player will understand it and the controller helps the console player aswell
