The car business is the only one where being a con man is not only legal, but encouraged.

Those criminals need to be put out of business. Nobody should do business with greedy scum. They don't deserve to have any customers. Ever.

In Kentucky a employee of the Sheriffs office has to go out and verify the mileage. That’s all the $5 fee is for as they also verify the VIN is correct.

When buying the car at lease end, all the fees owed at that time are in the contract? If so, those are the ONLY fees owed. "Sorry, I am paying only the fess listed in the contract!" If the dealer refuses to remove the fees, take it to the media. Any investigative reporter would LOVE to go after the story!

Robert does not even need to talk to the dealership at this point. It’s not their car! He needs to talk with the lien holder GMAC, GM capital whatever they’re called these days and typically, he just needs to pay his state tax on that $21, 000 purchase price and that’s it.

I just bought my 2018 Jeep GC ... 3 year lease ... It has 15800 miles on it. I bought it directly from Chrysler Capital ... Just paid the residual of 21k plus a 350 turn in fee plus tax ... That it.

When the dealer is inventing these new fees ... Isn't that breach of contract? The original lease gives me the right to purchase with just the fees in that agreement. To me it seems on its face that the dealer is breaching the original contract.

Safety and emissions inspections in MO are only $36 for both.

You guys are awesome! Just financed a 2022 Lexus RX F sport at MSRP, no mark up. 🙌🏽 thankfully. Had to travel to San Antonio to purchase the vehicle though. I live here in Albuquerque, NM. No inventory here.

I’m guessing what the dealer was doing was treating it as if he was returning the vehicle as a lease return. And then, in theory, he was putting it back out on the lot and selling it from used car inventory. That’s a pretty sketchy move! There’s no need to even involve the dealer.

Two weeks ago I visited a Hyundai dealership that modified the Monroney sticker for a 2022 Hyundai Santa Fe Limited that has an MSRP of approximately $40, 000 to which they added a $7000 market adjustment fee and an additional $3000 of vaporware...for a grand total of $50, 000 for a $40, 000 Santa Fe. I am reasonably certain that the dealer was not concerned about losing a sale because of the egregious price gouging. However, for many folks this leaves a lasting bad taste that will likely have an impact for that dealer long term.

I have leased many vehicles over the years. On every lease the buyout was from the leasing company, no dealer involved. I am unaware of any manufacturer which requires a lease buyout be processed through a dealer.

It makes no sense for "Robert" to involve a GM dealer. GM has a direct buyout program through GM Financial. There is no requirement for a person buying out a GM lease to involve a dealer.

"Roberts" report clearly shows why it is usually wise to avoid car dealerships who play this FAKE FEE game. Not all dealers play this game but most do. But most do not play this game to the absurd extent this Cadillac dealer does.

GM, like most brands, has initiated a stipulation it will no longer allow its lease customers to sell the leased vehicle to rival dealerships without first buying out the lease. But the buyout may be accomplished with GM Financial.

In Maryland a vehicle safety inspection is not required when a leased vehicle is transferred to the lessee at the end of the lease. If the vehicle is not currently titled in Maryland a safety inspection will be required.

I just purchased my 3 year leased 2019 Hyundai Kona from Hyundai finance, who financed the lease, and only paid end of lease residual and state tax. I was not required to pay any other charges or fees. I plan to keep the car too...it's my wife's.

Can I hire you to come with me to buy a car? These fees are ridiculous!

Dad says the level of creativity. It is the level of con artist creativity.

If these fees are not listed in the lease agreement tjat was signed at the beginning of the lease, how can they legally add these BS fees after the fact? How can they enforce fees that are not listed in the lease contract?

If you buy a car at the end of your lease you are uying it from the LEASING COMPANY. You deal with them directly. The get the uy out price per the contract plus any fees listed in the contract. What is the dealer doing for, or to you? I am not aware of any lease that says a buy out, early or at termonation, must onvolve a dealer. I lease frequently and would not sign such a lease.

Haha I've tried calling Ally several times asking where my title is for my lease buyout and I get put on hold for 30min plus, no one answers. I got ahold of someone one time 11/11 and was told by the 11/22 I would have my refund for them taking a payment the day after I paid the vehicle off and my title.

can't you deal directly with the manufacturer and payoff the car?

Do you think leasing is still a better deal than buying out the vehicle in the long run, the lease price is pretty cheap, and people are driving less miles.
