Why I Broke Up With Veganism

I’m still going to share plant based recipes btw! This may come as a surprise to many as I have been a very proud Vegan for over 5 years. It has been a weird transition, and I am now also very proud of how I am evolving. Many of us are doing the best we can to illuminate this physical world. I ask for kindness with any comments responding to this video as I know this topic can be triggering for many. Shame isn't an effective way to help change anyone.

I’m proud of myself for having been vegan for 5 years and even more proud to allow myself to evolve and better my health.

Much love on your journey to Ahimsa and light,
Jess

I was vegan for 18 years. My iron and b12 and vitamin D became completely depleted even with me supplementing. I felt like garbage and was tired all the time. I feel so much better now.

I'm so Happy for you.
your first bite of egg put a huge smile on my face and you have a wonderful support system.
i felt the same way quitting and having to reconceptualize my understanding of what I traumatized my mind to believe.
we starved ourselves, so be patient and forgive yourself. best wishes!!
PS: if the vegans come to harass you just know you're not alone there's a lot of us who overcame the same mental emotional struggle

Jess, you have been blessed to see the simple side of farming life and to grow your own food, that is the key. Please just always remember the cruelty to animals is from factory farming, living on a farm and getting the product that you know where it came from is the key. We were a healthy society just 70 years ago from eating farm fresh food, it’s when the major factory farms took over with all the drugs and miss treatment of the animals that all these health issues happen. There’s never a need to label yourself, just live a compassionate life like we know you do and all is good in the world! Have a great trip back to the states and take care!

That was nice. I like watching videos covering this topic of transitioning.
I have two questions for you:
1) What is the main thing or things that the typical vegan believes that you no longer believe, yourself?
2) How would you describe the way you eventually ended up at what you once did believe as a vegan? How did that work?

Jessica, the lack of vitamin B12 causes (in the human been) megaloblastic anemia, and peripheric neuropathy. It does not exist in "vegetal kingdom". Vitamin B12 helps to form the red blood cells´ membranes and forms the meyline coating of nerves (neurons in brain and peripheral nervous system). The symptoms you felt, such as head ache, shortness of breath, palpitations, tiredness, dumbness, tinnitus, might all be caused by anemia. The liver deposits of vitamin B12 run out/empty whithin some years, after that, you need to suplement them with artificial vitamins (those suplements are taken out of the same sources by industrial transformation). As a doctor, I have to face a lot of vegan patients who get really "nervous" when I touch the subject, but I can only advise/educate them, (some people are more intolerant than others).I know in USA you are used to take vitamin pills since infancy, I saw hundreds of bottles at the super markets, but if you have a balanced diet, you don´t need those bottles...somehow you get in more natural shape eating an egg than with artificial elements...greetings from a bolivian guy living in Buenos to return to my for my english).

thank you so much for sharing your story. i’m going through my transition phase right now and wow, giving up on veganism is harder than becoming a vegan!

I stopped being vegan after working for a vegan nonprofit and learning studies were lies. I’m stronger and healthier than ever.

Do you experience bullying from online groups after you left vegan? I have seen people get bullied from their fellow vegan??? IDK. Some vegan are not the nicest people from what I have seen.

Yess the egg thing ! I never went vegan but I definitely saw some of the documentaries and I believed that egg industry used special like genetically engineered birds in order to get large egg output and I figured a bird would naturally only lay a handful of eggs PER YEAR .. but after actually being around chickens at people's homes, and all different breeds and types mind you, I saw just how many eggs they lay. Basically about 1 egg per day! With some variation of course, but still . They definitely make those eggs rapidly and you can even hear and learn to recognize the certain type of clucking/yell when they are laying their egg 🥚 . Lots of lies and heartstring pulling propaganda about dairy cows as well. Not denying that there is a lot of cruelty and there are some very bad conditions in factory farming, but some things are definitely waaaay different than what activists and documentaries portray.

Interesting video and thank you for beeing so honest and open about your perspectives. You mentioned eggs a lot in this video so i feel inclined to ask your opinions about it. Unfortunately i don't really know much about animals, the last couple of years i focused more on veggie/fruit/flower agriculture, also permaculture which i think is really underrated/has a lot of potential. So regarding the eggs, you mentioned that they just lay so many eggs that i would imagine it would feel like waste not to consume them, but as i came to understand are the majority of chickens nowadays "overbred", like they are not "natural", probably even genetically modified, to produce so many eggs, so i wonder what your thoughts are about this aspect of it? Reminds me of the "reasoning" of a farmer saying his cows would suffer when they're not milked because their udders would hurt, yet with cows it seems like thats the same situation there.. Seems like selective breeding for centuries if not millenia, but i hope your understanding can suggest otherwise.. So, not coming from a place of judgment, just trying to expand my understanding/congruency of my own reasoning.. Thanks again, looking forward to hearing your thoughts 🌳 #teamMoringa 🙂

I was a vegetarian for many years (and a vegan for a disastrous couple of months). At some point, I realized I hadn't saved a single animal, except for some rescued pets. So veganism just seems hugely hypocritical to me.

I eat a carnivore style diet. The thing about animals is they are the happiest and healthiest when they are free to roam and eat what nature intended them to eat. Grass fed ruminant animals, pasture raised chickens, wild caught fatty fish. The health benefits of these animals are much better on a ratio level. Animals that are fed grains are much more unhealthy for humans.
