He’s making 80k and he doesn’t wanna move out? You’re more than safe to leave man. You got nothing to worry about.

Dude.. not everybody wants to live with a roommate at 28. Some of us do cherish our privacy. I would rather live with my parents than roommates.

Bad advice. Dude has been living at home since the pandemic started, not all his life. He can pay the entire debt within a yr if he stays with his parents and then move forward with life.

He needs a to buy a house he can afford stop telling people to get a roommate that is a headache all in it’s own

The idea that you have to move out to learn responsibility, survival skills, how to pay bills etc, when he works two jobs and has paid off $50K is beyond me. Stay home, leverage “Group Economic” as long as you can. Sometimes the best inheritance a parent can give their children is low to no rent and time to build a nest egg.

I moved out in my late twenties and I wish I had moved out in my early twenties. Maybe even 18 years old.

The feeling of having your own place, your own privacy is something I wish I had earlier in my life

Thought Dave would say stay at parents’ house as long as he can until he pays off the debt.
See? Dave is not all about paying off the debt. He cares about other stuff too.

This is bad advice. Stay in your parents place and save up. Renting an apartment when there's an empty room already paid for is a waste of money. I say this as someone who stayed with their parents and accumulated a massive savings. I think I had about $100k for the down payment when I bought my own house. My mortgage has since been paid off completely. Say what you will but being able to say at 35 that you're completely debt free is worth a few years of being embarrassed to invite people over.

I’m 35 living with / taking care of my grandparents who are in their 80’s. I make almost 50k in a good year with no debt, but if I ever left they’d have nobody to help them and they, as well as myself, would see it as abandonment. I have no hope of ever dating or marriage or having children, at least until they’re gone. I’m just commenting to make anyone else who feels like a total loser say “hey, at least I’m not as bad as that guy”.

Has he actually done research on apartment prices or is he just "afraid" they will be too expensive? Big difference.

Omg move out now, just doing that frees you and motivates you even more. I guarantee you will say, why didn't I do this sooner?

All around bad advice. Dave is telling him to move out for the possibility of meeting his future wife. So few females are wife material the chances of meeting her are almost zero, and having his own place won't help the odds. He should stay home another year and pay off his debt. Dave telling him to move out so he can find a woman to marry is just wrong. A woman will only further complicate things and slow his debt payment more.

It sounds like he has lived by himself in the past since he said he lived with his parents "since the pandemic started". I don't think there is a problem hunkering down with mom and dad for 12-18 months and paying off the debt like a mad man, assuming he is also chipping in for rent.

if his parents are ok with it and they have a good relationship then stay until you pay off the debt. dude is smart

lol, this guy has it easy compared to my brother who is 33 and never moved out of my parents house. Fear is a bitch, as they say.

Nothing wrong with living with your parents, i paid off all my debt living here with my parents and that was the best decision i ever made, why would i got and pay 1k a month when i can put that towards my debt. Don’t agree on this one.
