While there is a lot to be learned from these well-prepped fit ups using "modern" welders, I'd like to see tips and tricks for welding the likes of 2" barn/pasture fencing with an old-school Miller 225 Bobcat (or something similar). Typically, the pipe is nasty and often magnetized. The saddles are rough cut with a torch. So essentially, just about the opposite of a nice shop or commercial job. Love your SMAW videos. Stay safe!

The best thing I got out of this video was the trick of removing flux from the center of the rod to make it less "flippy". Dang, I've been cutting the rods in half, then removing flux from the cut end (factory end is OK on the other piece). Now all I have to do when using more than one "short" stick is to just flip the rod over in the stinger. Thanks for the tip, Mancub!

Learned a lot thank you! That small pipe can be tricky with the temperature so it’s always good to keep letting the pipe cool down

I was getting ready to say mancub can finally talk, but in the middle of typing you guys played the bloopers! 😂 he can weld though, and is entertaining, thanks mancub!

Good job. We had to do that test and three others except we done it in 6G and we had to make a three stringer cover. We did that and a tig root a 6G.a unlimited in 6G with a tig root on a 6 inch pipe, and a 10 in with a stick root flip test. We had a three year clock. Plus all the other certs we needed stainless, mig. On pipe . Loved that job retired now. Every welder does things a little different but that's close to what I did. I liked a smaller keyhole then you, i seem to have more control, and it slowed things down for me. Great video I enjoyed it. You are fun to watch.

I like how you show how human he is. I’ve left my hood on grind mode too. Thx!

Great presentation as everyone agrees. I think the photography deserves a compliment - especially I like the split screen arc views.

10:00 Surprisingly my grind mode isn’t really that bright, and I’m thankful for that very reason.

Pay more attention to keeping the two pipes in straight alignment. That's the MAIN concern.

Good video! The grind mode has flashed me more than once but overall I get arc exposed far less with the auto dark helmets than with the old school helmets. Keep the great videos coming and share the skill.
