This is very true guys! Hear me out! I used to suffer from Heart burn or acid reflux. I would always carry with me a pack of Tums for that. Then i did some research and learned that NOT drinking water, sodas or any sugary drinks during meals was the way to prevent acid reflux. So I tried for a couple of weeks and to my surprise....i never had heart burn again!!!! No more Tums. Tums is an antiacid... So it will lower the acid in your stomach needed to digest the food... This is so bad... Don't do it guys... Find the cause and make changes instead of treating the symptoms with pharmaceutical drugs.

When you’re settling in to enjoy a meal, your stomach – being the clever little worker that it is – will start releasing the exact amount of gastric juices that are needed to digest the food you’re shovelling into your system. However, if liquid is going in as well, not only does the water dilute the digestive juices, but water is absorbed through the walls of the stomach until the contents are concentrated enough for the digestive juices to act. When this happens, the concentrated substance ends up being thicker than the food your stomach was expecting to accommodate for and you won’t have enough gastric juice to break it down. This leads to undigested food being absorbed through the stomach wall and sneaking into your system.
Cold water, especially, is a problem. Drinking cold water during meals can slow digestion and may cause cramping if you are particularly sensitive.
If the idea of skipping water during meals all together is too much to handle, slowly wean yourself off it by just allowing small sips of room temperature water. Aim to hydrate about 15 to 20 minutes before you eat, and then try not to drink too much water until about 30 minutes to an hour after you’ve finished your meal.
With all of the rules we have floating around in the wellness world, this isn’t something to worry yourself sick over. You don’t have to treat it as gospel. However, if you do experience bloating, cramping or gas after eating, making this slight change could do you the world of good.

Well I have noticed when I eat without drinking, I see that I could eat more, plus experience significantly less or no stomach discomfort, so this video is valid!!

I stopped drinking during meals several months ago after reading about this, and my nightly acid reflux has gone away!! I was sleeping on a wedge or only on my left side it was so bad. Tums was a nightly occurrence. No more!

Thanks doc, I actually feel more overall relaxed if I don't drink water, and also I don't get a bubble stomach so that's a plus.

Most food contains some water, there's no need to drink huge amounts of liquid full stop and I'm experimenting with avoiding it during eating, but am not too sure whether it's any help.
I've certainly taking to avoiding glugging down vast quantities while I eat.
I think with the question of liquids, in general, look to the behaviour of other animals.
I'm not noticing too many of them having to down 8 glasses of water a day and certainly not a tall glass of water in the morning! :O)
My feeling is to drink when I'm thirsty and then only enough to quench the thirst.
I'm not sure I buy this idea that if you're thirsty then you're already dehydrated.
That must be breathtaking news to a Kalahari Bushman! :O)

So when drinking at least 8 ounces of water in one sitting should I take a sip for every few minutes until 30 minutes? Or I can just take one small sip and wait until I feel it’s down my stomach even if it’s less than 10 minutes?

Yes, some dilution but your body adjusts quickly for most people. For them, this is a non issue.
