I’m 110 days sober today. Best decision I’ve ever made. I look better, feel better, and I feel like I have total control over my actions. My wife likes sober me a lot more, too.

You know what happens when you order a coke or an iced tea or whatever while everyone else is drinking? Not a damned thing. If your friends are so far up your butt that they care what you're drinking, you need new friends, cause they're jerks.

Not leaving the house for a Month, Here's What Happened

It's amazing that we live in a society where not taking a extremely harmful drug for a month is seen as a dramatic thing to do.

I really appreciate when people who can drink take a break from it and experience the odd “I don’t fit” discomfort, because it’s really hard to understand how much alcohol is a part of our culture until you stop drinking it. I don’t know that I phrased that exactly right, but I think it’s coherent.

You have no idea how long a year is until you're sober.

He's absolutely correct.

Chyna mentioned that she was looking forward to just one glass and it reminded me of my journey - no judgment, just wanted to share my story. :) I "accidentally" became sober by stopping drinking for about a month or so and then having that one glass. I repeated that process a few times until basically, I didn't even want that one glass. The social aspect was hard to overcome but now I actually feel a sense of pride in telling people I don't drink because drinking was a peer pressure thing for me. I fooled myself into believing I liked it and I liked clubs, after a sheltered upbringing where drinking was completely off the cards. To me, drinking was a sign of liberation from my restrictive past. Now, ironically, not-drinking is a sign of liberation and free will to me. I have truly become more of my person.

This comment section is filled with people who don't drink patting each other on the back, like myself.

Me: regained regular bowel movements, regular sleep, regular baths, regular eating, regular exercise, regular bill payments, regular non inmate status, here's what happened: I quit drinking.

I stopped drinking for a bit and never started again. IDK, everything felt better and nothing for worse 🤷‍♂️

I’m 70 days sober from alcohol and cocaine. Did both for 7+ years with the last two consuming out of pure depression and anxiety. I’ve gone through the pink cloud syndrome which was a strange feeling all together. I have sooo much more energy, control and perform better at the gym. My relationship with my immediate family has improved drastically as well. I lost my wife due to my alcoholism and regret so many of my decisions but the one I don’t is putting down the drink and coke. Stay strong guys, it’s totally worth it!

I don't drink really, so I know how basically everyone will incessantly badger you to drink at parties. It makes people uncomfortable for some reason. So I fill up an empty beer bottle with water all evening. Then people leave you in peace. They also think you're like, so amazing because you can really hold your liquior. Lol.

I haven't had alcohol for almost six years, and when I made the decision to live an alcohol free life, I was in the Navy. Additionally, I grew up in an area that is famous for wine making and came from a family with a history of alcoholism. Early on, I did miss it, but as time went on, the cravings for it go away. These days, I do not miss it and I never have thoughts of drinking. I never feel socially awkward because I don't have a beer in hand or anything like that. The way I am, I am a very socially awkward person even without alcohol. Thank goodness for teas, juices, water, and the occasional soda. For anyone out there that is looking to reduce or completely quit, you really are doing yourself a huge favor for your health and your finances, and I hope my experience encourages you to do what is good for you.

18 Months ago I decided to quit drinking for 30 days. At the time I was drinking too much and too often. A beer before lunch, maybe another with lunch or a glass of wine. Then same thing in the evening. I also travel a lot for work and dinner with colleagues is always a drink before dinner, wine with the meal and then a night cap after. It started to affect my sleep. I would wake up at 4am and not be able to go back to sleep but I was too tired to do anything productive. Plus I was getting chunky.

About 5 days into the detox I was sleeping so well throughout the night. Waking feeling refreshed and clear. I had energy all day. I just felt so good. The end of the 30 days detox was my birthday but when the day came I felt so good I didn't want to drink so I extended the detox. It's now been 18 months since I've had a drink and I have never felt better in my life. I've lost more than 30 punds, at least 12 of which were lost just by not drinking alcohol.

It's been one of the best things I've ever done. I don't miss it at all. I've actually become quite anti-booze. The way it's so socially acceptable and everywhere. The way you have to explain that you don't drink. The way that I felt so good without it made me think how bad I actually felt when I was drinking and didn't even notice. I no longer drink and my life is a thousand times better for it.

I really like seeing your parents try the challenges. Not just because of the humor, which is great, but also because it feels really helpful to think about how some of these things can affect you differently based on age. Definitely on board with that.

Charcoal toothpaste should not be used daily, it is very abrasive and it will cause more harm than good in the long run.

Well let me tell you my life story. I slowly distanced off from alcohol. It's been about three years and it's opened my eyes about how social gatherings rely on alcohol and drinking. The downside is that it's made me more critical of the culture as well as the people who constantly talk about drinking. I think the current dynamic sees alcoholicism not as seriously as it should be. And honestly this is really only obvious once the person take a break themselves. Thanks for making me feel like you've been there with my journey.

I noticed when I quit drinking alcohol that it took me 3 months to get it out of my system. One of the best changes I noticed though was that it changed my personality.
