I have another theory about why he can talk/why he has no buttons
Since the other mother hates cats, she wouldn't want to claim cats as hers, the "claim" part being the buttons. If you have button eyes, you belong to HER. The reason why (I think) the cat can talk is because most things in the other world can talk, like the toys and the dragonflies. But why does the other mother hate cats exactly? Here's where Wybie and the jumping mice come in. The cat could possibly give away her scheme, possibly ending that whole world and being trapped. Since the cats can "hear things that humans can't", he can give away what Wybie could've wanted to say. He's the one that talks too much, and he might slip up. The other mother was afraid, so she silenced him. The cat would also be able to spot red flags in that world that humans can't, like the jumping mice turning to rats when they were killed, showing the ugly truth of that world.

I honestly think The Cat is the boy in the picture with the blue jacket and blue eyes eating ice cream… so the theory starts before the pink palace was ever even built… The Beldom was a witch who lived in a brick house where the pink palace is now… that brick house was then built over when the construction of the palace began and a trap door for the children was created to use it as what I assume would be either a play room for the children or it was used for storage… either way the small brick hut was obviously cursed by the evil dark magic performed by the Beldom during her past life… this obviously leads into our first victim… the kid in the panting… though the Beldom wasn’t able to fully convince the kid to stay causing him to become resentful and the kid not being fully consumed, and as we know the beldom hates cats, so because she couldn’t fully consume the child, either because her powers weren’t great enough at the time or from the sheer resentfulness of the child, she simply cursed him… and since she despises the kid so much she turned him into a cat, something she sees as equally awful… and due to the cats odd and mysterious background it gains supernatural powers being able to shift between the real world and the other world seamlessly… and he even retains the ability to speak in the other world because of the supernatural status of that reality… tho I’m the real world that magic disappears and he becomes a regular cat once more…. That’s my theory… I call it “the painting boy cat theory” 💀💀💀💀

Can there be prequels to Coraline where The Beldam trapped her victims forever? Which one where Wybie's great aunt went to the Other World, one where the boy went to the Other World, and one where the tall girl went to the Other World.

Obviously we know that the house AND the beldam are both 150 years old but not how old the other father is because he was obviously made to help trick coraline but this is to do with wybies grandma. Other theories say that she originally found the doll of coraline and kept it for elemental reasons. And her being the owner of the pink Palace and at the beginning of the film we see the beldam making a coraline doll. So maybe that was when the beldam was a resident herself and she made the doll as well as the illusion tunnel. Meaning when she made the tunnel that she either purposely or accidentally 'left' the doll in the house for wybies grandma to find. Possibly why wybie was a bit shocked that there came a girl who looked identical to the doll that her grandma had for years.

I have a theory as well so when Caroline goes into the portal door or whatever she sees the other mother and the other father and everyone else that has button eyes So for the previous people who used to live in that house did it also happened to them or just Coraline was the door even there the previous time???

Sometimes a cat is just a cat. besides being able to talk, he didn't know anything that a cat wouldn't know. He didn't know the history of the house or anything.

Yes great theory BUT the grandmother's twin disappeared when she was young and if they are twins the were probably the same age and you said the had children and then he died of old age and she could not have had kids that young ...

what if the cat was a pilgrim who followed a child to the beldam or children to the beldam and trued to fight her but then she hurt a part of his ear amd then he was transformed into a cat ( if he was a child why

That cat controls the whole thing because why would the other mother know that she was hungry and clothes the other mother or doll wasn’t there so the cat must have to transform into a person or anything and made the beldam do the things she do and why wasn’t the beldam able to take the cat of her because the cat was aiming for her eyes but the cat missed a couple times and she could have thrown the cat and got coralline then sewed buttons on her or coralline could have left but the cat will find another way to get coraline

I'm sorry but that doesn't make sense due to the timeline of the other victims. You can make an educated guess of the order of their deaths based on their outfits by the style of clothing.
