Brazilian Portuguese has a unique rhythm that makes it stand out as soon as you hear it. It is very musical and quite clear. European Portuguese, in contrast, is rather fast. Actually, many learners claim that this is one of the reasons why Brazilian Portuguese is much easier to follow.

If you are interested to see your native language/dialect be featured here.
Looking forward to hearing from you!

Amo ambas as versões.

Sou croata e aprendi o português brasileiro sozinho.Tenho vários vídeos no meu canal falando português.

I’m SO HAPPY you did this!!! I’m from the US, & Portuguese is my absolute FAVORITE language! I’m currently learning it (the Brazilian version), but I DEFINITELY prefer all of the Brazilian Portuguese accents more than any other accents from Portugal or other Lusophone nations. But all of them make up the most beautiful language in the world.

In its linguistic evolution, vernacular brazilian portuguese stopped using some clitic pronouns like o/a/-lo/-la/lhe/nos in favor of ele/ela + prepositions, probably because "o" and "a" usually get merged with other final or initial vowels and then disappear. Ex.: "Ela comprava-a" sounds almost the same as "Ela comprava".

In Northern Brazil and in Rio, numbers 'dois', 'três', 'seis' and 'dez' last consonants (s and z) are pronounced in the same way as European Portuguese, being closer to 'x' (or "ch") and 'j' (or "dj").

As a native Spanish speaker, Brazilian Portuguese is thousands of times easier to understand. Even after studying the language. Portuguese from Portugal is spoken much more rapidly and a lot of vowels are omitted in between syllables. This gives it a different cadence. It takes a lot of getting used to. It’s still a beautiful language regardless of what variant it is that one hears.

Love the sound of both languages, but there's something that adore about Brazilian Portuguese!

European Portuguese just sounds formal and antique to Brazilian ears.

Thank you very much for this video, I have been learning Brazilian Portuguese with Duolingo for a while and although I have watched other videos on the differences between Brazilian and mainland Portuguese, this one is eye-opening especially with regard to the different words used in both varieties of Portuguese.

Saudações do Brasil!🤝🇧🇷

Am I the only one that kinda prefers the sound of Portuguese from Portugal? It sounds more smooth and welcoming to my ears. I really like the way they say cancer for some reason 😭. BP is also lovely.

Brazilian Portuguêse sounds more musically!!! It pleases our ears due its vowels. And the consonants are smooth.

Caramba.

0:56 - Both "Continuar a achar" and "continuar achando" are used in BR portuguese
- In BR, "de meu" is a formal construction. The most common is "do meu", using the article.
