This is very comforting to me. I had a stillbirth several years ago. My daughter was not able to be baptized. James 1:21 "Humbly accept the word planted in you which can save you." This passage gives me hope that she is in Heaven because she could hear God's word when I was worshiping in church.

I'm not sure about this. If a person is dying on their death bed and before death GENUINELY accepts Jesus as their Savior, are they saved? I've always believed yes. I don't believe they need to quickly be baptized before they take their last breath to enter into His paradise.

Is necessary for salvation.
John 3:5 - "No one can enter the kingdom of God without being born of water and Spirit"
Mark 16:16 - "Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved"
Acts 16:30, 33 - "what must I do to be saved? ... he and all his family were baptized"
1 Peter 3:21 - "baptism which saves you now."

Baptism: “We have been buried with Him through baptism into death.” In the first phase of water baptism, we are “buried in a watery grave.” Whenever anyone was baptized in the early church after they were saved, they were immersed under water, which represented the death and burial of their old man of sin (sin nature). Since only a dead man can be buried, this burial in water baptism confirmed that when we were born again, our old man of sin (our sin nature) died. Burial also signifies that God has removed our sinful nature from us since the dead are always removed from the house of the living. In other words, the immersion (baptism) of our old man of sin into Christ’s death resulted in its death and burial (removal from us). In this way, water baptism reveals the heart of the New Covenant. God knew we needed forgiveness for our sins; He also knew we needed deliverance from our sin nature. Otherwise, we would remain captives to sin. Therefore, when Jesus Christ died, He bore not only our sins on the cross; He also bore our sin nature on the cross. “God made Christ who had no sin to be sin on our behalf, so that we might become the righteousness of God in Him (2 Corinthians 5:21).” Since our bondage to sin came when we were born sinners; our deliverance from sin came when God included us in Christ’s death. “We are convinced that one died for all, therefore all died (2 Corinthians 5:14).”
In the next phase of water baptism, (As Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, so we too might walk in newness of life) We are raised in new resurrection life out of the watery grave. This demonstrates that Jesus Christ now lives in us and has become our new life (2 Corinthians 13:5; Colossians 1:27; 3:4). Everything we need for godliness has been deposited in us through Christ (2 Peter 1:3). Jesus Christ has become our wisdom, righteousness, sanctification and redemption (1 Corinthians 1:30). Thus water baptism outwardly demonstrates that God has included us in the death, burial and resurrection of His Son, Jesus Christ. As Paul wrote, “Having been buried with Him in baptism, in which you were also raised up with Him through faith in the working of God, who raised Him from the dead (Colossians 2:12).”

I love that Baptism connects us to Jesus as does his word and prayers. I want to keep that connection open!

So is the power source the Holy Spirit and the word of God is the connector cord. This verse comes to mind. Romans 10:17 So faith comes by hearing, and hearing the word of Christ. I agree With pastor Mike, Baptism is recommended like the Lord supper but it isn't a requirement for salvation.

Baptism in and of itself does not save you, he said at the end “baptism THROUGH JESUS” saves you. So in other words you have to accept Christ in order to be saved. And if someone accepts Christ and does not get baptized does not mean they are not saved.

I guess that Peter was referring to the baptism of the Holy Spirit.
"This water symbolizes (baptism that now saves you)".

But as Mike said, we do it for obedience, not because if we don't do it we'll be condemned.

I loved this video! When I got baptized at my parents Presbyterian church, I was sprinkled by water. Then I switched to a Baptist Church that had bile classes every wednesday. I got baptized again at the Baptist Church, 4 people got Baptized that sunday.

No, baptism does not save you. It's a confirmation of your faith to follow Christ as your Lord and Savior.

Okay, so here we are again stating that Baptism saves us through the washing of our sins. I still haven't heard anyone say that before you get Baptised you have to ask Jesus into you're heart. You can read the Bible from cover to cover and even get Baptised but unless you Admit you're a sinner and ask Jesus to be you're Savior you're still no better off then you were before you were Baptised.
I was 22 years old the day I admitted to Jesus that I was a sinner and that I need Him as my Personal Savior and I asked Him into my heart to save me. I wasn't Baptised until 2014 and the day I was Baptised was the actual day I felt Freedom. So they both go hand and hand, you can't have one without the other.

I remember when I was a child I got baptized years ago. Me and my wife have just now been reconnected with our church and our savior so I want to be baptized again. I don't know why but I feel dirty

The pastor misquoted and misinterpreted James 1:21 to justify his point. James 1:21 says the "implanted word'' to save your souls, not the word which he associated with the book. Totally different application. He is also wrong about baptism but won't get into here. Luther kept with the catholic belief on baptism.

John 3:3 and John 3:5, JESUS says you must be born again to enter the kingdom. Not baptism, it's receiving the Holy Spirit, the helper, because with Him you understand scripture, with Him you crave for righteousness and "sin becomes exceedingly sinful" (Rom 7:13)

baptism has a few facets of meaning in scripture and often can be a rite of passage description or a journey for self discovery or destiny. Here’s an example

Matthew 20:22 NKJV
[22] But Jesus answered and said, "You do not know what you ask. Are you able to drink the cup that I am about to drink, and be baptized with the baptism that I am baptized with?" They said to Him, "We are able."

Matthew 20:23 NKJV
[23] So He said to them, "You will indeed drink My cup, and be baptized with the baptism that I am baptized with; but to sit on My right hand and on My left is not Mine to give, but it is for those for whom it is prepared by My Father."

And I think Jesus makes a distinction baptism when talking to the pharisees in that it may not be a literal water act but rather a spiritual act.

Matthew 21:25 NKJV
[25] The baptism of John-where was it from? From heaven or from men?" And they reasoned among themselves, saying, "If we say, 'From heaven, ' He will say to us, 'Why then did you not believe him?'

It can be both but its seemingly primarily an act of washing of the spirit vs an act of water.

Luke 3:3 NKJV
[3] And he went into all the region around the Jordan, preaching -a baptism of- repentance for the remission of sins,

“A baptism of” interesting wording right? It seems to be directional and descriptive of a separate act versus something related to water.

And I think Jesus makes it a little more stringently clear with…

Mark 1:15 NKJV
[15] and saying, “The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand. Repent, and believe in the gospel."

Repenting in itself is an act of baptism.

I suspect John the Baptist was a literal foretelling of the spiritual that was to come. John the Baptist had to start the process of understanding for the masses where Jesus completes from the spiritual side of things much as he describes in John 6.

Acts 1:5 NKJV
[5] for John truly baptized with water, but you shall be baptized with the Holy Spirit not many days from now." -Jesus

I think TRUE baptism comes from belief and water baptism is our outward unashamed act of showing our new faith in Christ. Only one of these saves.

In this way the thief was baptized by the spirit on the cross.
