Thanks for this....I keep trying to explain this to the 99% of modern "Christians" in this country who refuse to baptize their kids or deny their own baptism. You can do it so much better. May the Lord open their nondenominational / charismatic / pentecostal / Calvinist eyes

I was an evangelical for over a decade. I found Wolfmueller after I had been convinced of Lutheranism and it never ceases to amaze me how patient he is with evangelical theology on the sacraments. Lutheranism gives the scriptures such clarity and my heart such peace. I have trouble not feeling resentful towards evangelicals for stealing that from me for so long. I pray that by God’s grace I may some day be as gentle and patient as Pastor Wolfmueller.

Like if I wash the dishes, it's not the dishes' work - it's me doing it.

Same with baptism.
God bless.

It wasn't until the enthusiasts under the reformation that we see the denial of a MEANS for grace in the sacraments

Actually I became addicted to your videos, I found it simple and easy to understand, it help me a lot to understand the theology and my beliefs as a Lutheran, God bless you.

Why is there an artificial division of Christ alone for salvation and Baptism and Communion promises from Jesus's own mouth and the Holy Spirits inspiration of scripture. Literally, Jesus says this blood of the new covenant forgives sins...Jesus who saves says clearly what the New Covenant is...his blood. Holy Spirit through Paul, we were killed in Christs death in baptism, so that we will be raised in the ressurection of Christ...why are we unable to accept Jesus said so...scripture said so...it must be so? Why false dichotomies...artificial divisions. I am held to what comes out of my mouth...and sadly most is foolishness. Why cannot Christians take our triune God, Father, Son, and Holy spirit...only entity never to lie...at His Word?

The unstated assumption is that baptism is a work... is baptism a work? -No...

Thanks Pastor for making this video. And thank you Sir_Valion for making this video possible in the first place. I don’t know if I’m going to Lutheranism yet, but it’s definitely been some food for thought.

Right, who ever claimed they baptized themselves? Even Jesus was baptized by John The Baptist. It is an act done to you.

P.S. appreciate your example of how to conversate with assenters and dissenters and raising the bat for civil discourse on interwebs and reminding us it is okay to respectfully disagree and wrestle together in search of truth

Bryan, my apologies for not responding to this sooner, but I just discovered it today. Your explanation is well stated, and appreciated.

You have said those with faith are not condemned, so I have to agree with that. Like many things in Scripture baptism is hinted at being required but never flatly portrayed as such (like faith obviously and clearly is). Doctrine can run amok based on that which is seen as implied. My belief is that when God wants you to know something He just tells you plainly. Otherwise men can take things all over the place.

I tend to look at baptism as I look at the Last Supper. Just as the bread and wine were a manifestation of Christ's body and blood, so too is baptism a manifestation of one's faith.

Incidentally, I was raised a Catholic and attended Catholic schools through the 8th grade.

Thank you again. In other places you’ve mentioned ‘the means of grace’. I’ve found your work very helpful. God be praised!

this was tremendously helpful in so many ways...if you can please make a video on "what happens if a person dies without getting baptised?"
I hear that a lot

For by Grace you have been saved by Faith and that not of yourself. It is a gift from God, not of works least you boast. Ephesians 2:8, 9. (Eph. 1:13, Philippians 3:9 and more)

I could not agree more with what you've said however I'm still in a theological pickle. What about Romans 4:1-5? Many Evangelicals use this text to show that others are saved purely apart from anything we do, without water baptism. Thanks, brother!
