How To Make Sausage Gravy

You need just four ingredients and 15 minutes to have this classic breakfast staple on your table.

Ingredients
1 lb pork breakfast sausage I recommend using sage flavored (455g)
1/4 cup all-purpose (plain) flour (31g)
2 1/2 cups whole milk (590ml)
1/8 teaspoon crushed red pepper optional
salt and freshly cracked black pepper to taste

Instructions
00:00 Introduction
00:20 Place sausage in a skillet over medium/high heat.
00:38 Use a spatula to break up and crumble sausage as it cooks, cooking until completely browned and no pink remains. Do not drain your skillet.
00:53 Sprinkle flour evenly over the sausage crumbles. Stir frequently until flour is absorbed (about 1 minute).
01:13 Slowly pour the milk into your skillet, stirring as you pour. Add crushed red pepper, if using.
01:37 Continue to cook, stirring frequently until mixture is thickened and desired consistency is reached.
01:57 Add salt and pepper to taste and serve warm over homemade biscuits!

Notes
Sausage can be made the night before you plan to serve. Please see post for instructions on storing and reheating.

I just followed your video and made some for the first time just now. I accidentally used vanilla almond milk(meant to use no flavor) I thought it would taste weird but it still turned out good. Thank you, your recipe was simpler to make opposed to other YouTuber’s!

Hi, I’ve seen this recipe several times but believe it or not I’ve never made sausage gravy. Maybe it’s a southern thing and I’m from New Jersey. It’s not real popular here. It looks delicious so maybe it’s about time I give it a try. Thanks for sharing and I’ll see you soon, Dolores 🥰

Biscuits and gravy is my favorite! I rarely make it with sausage. I always use a can of evaporated milk but watching you use regular milk makes me think I should try it with regular. I've always figured the evap helps with the flavor I love, along with plenty of black pepper! I just had b & g the previous two mornings, guess I'm going for a third straight with regular milk! Curious about the flavor comparison! Thanks
