I have been avoiding this for years. Looks nasty to me but my husband wanted biscuits and gravy this morning and I used this recipe. Had no idea it was so simple. I’m not a gravy girlie but….WOW THIS WAS GOOD. Gravy gone biscuits gone I ate it up!!!

My mama always said if it's too thick, add milk and stir, if its too thin, keep cooking. It will ALWAYS thicken up because of the flour, no matter how much flour you've used.
Staple in my family in southern West Virginia and East Tennessee.

I started to wonder how my grandparents got some kick/heat to their sausage gravy. I know it wasn’t red pepper flakes or cayenne. I bet they used spicy sausage! Or a mixture of spicy and mild.

Okay.. much easier than taking the sausage out, making the gravy, and adding the sausage back in. However, I'll have to do that with my bacon gravy later.

It's not possible to screw up sausage gravy! And to reheat...and it's almost better reheated....warm in a saucepan and use more milk to get the consistency you like.
