I have double hip replacements due to osteonecrosis. The pain was killer as this progressed, and the range of motion in my left hip became very, very limited. This was the worst side and the side that had the worst damage going on in the ball joint. The ball part was beginning to crumble. I was probably about 3 months away from a wheelchair. I put the surgery off way too long and knew nothing about doing anything that would help the situation. It has been 12 years since the surgeries. My advice is do what you can to prevent the issues from getting so bad for as long as possible but also, don't put it off if it gets down to bone on bone and the pain requires the use of lots of painkillers.

Thank you. I didn’t realize the locking was common. It happens to me randomly while I’m driving. I’m under 40 and I’d like to keep it manageable for as long as possible. Thanks for the resources.

You are absolutely right doctor. After doing all of these exercises my hips got worse. I realized these exercises are what caused my hip pain to begin with since I had been doing them since my youth for many years. When I stopped, my hips got better. I am now doing glute strengthening exercises. Thank you.

I had a corticosteroid injection for my hip right before my vacation. It was wonderful. I felt normal and pain-free the entire time, and could be as active as I wanted. Unfortunately, it wore off not long after. I wish they would come up with an injection that works just as well, lasts for at least a year, and could be repeated indefinitely as an alternative to such major, invasive hip replacement surgery. Either that, or a neurectomy that affects only the hip joint that would give permanent relief. I would consider the surgery, but it will probably mean having to give up the sports I love doing.

Dr. David: I am hoping that you read the comments and answer some questions. I don't know how else to contact you. Can you please tell me if horizontal rebounding on a Pilates machine is ok for hip arthritis? Also, is stationary bycycling ok? The type that sits on the floor while you are seated on a chair. I would greatly appreciate your input. I really enjoy your videos and information

Avascular necrosis in my left knee and after the surgeries there's no cartilage left on the medial side. I get a golf ball sized lump of synovial fluid build up and pressure builds that comes with even slight movements. Bone spur on same side hip joint and arthritis set into both hips. Throw in disc hernations and needing a shoulder surgery on that same side of my body, A simple motion such as bending down to lift the toilet seat can end up with another round of severe sciatica flaring up. Went from 90+ hour work weeks and long distance running to an inability to walk the ten steps to the toilet. Surgeons send me to pain management, pain management sends me to neurology, and neurological sends me back to orthopedics... Same run around for too many years now and I simply give up. Im told my options are going on suboxone or another round of injections that previously lead to renal failure. Im on every OTC pain reliever and my primary care tells me to simply go do some yoga and refuses to give referrals. These pains are diabolical

Well! I’m finding out that it’s good that I don’t feel hip pain at rest on couch (but in sleep I have to adjust positions through night), and I don’t have any locking up of my hip joint.

Are you saying arthritis can be HEALED? I thought once the .joint lining, cushion was gone, it is gone for good, cannot grow back. So once you have it, you have it. Your programs help muscles surrounding, supporting joints to get stronger, maybe stretchto help the joint.

I've had some pain after my hip surgeries. Could it be arthritis around new hip. Pain is on left outer side of new hip. Thank u 🙏
