His number 1 reason honestly would convince me to move there, he basically said you can live peacefully and then shows beautiful landscapes while he is trying to convince us that more people is supposed to be a good thing

I'm from New Zealand and I've visted South Dakota twice. One of my favorite places. Beautiful landscapes. Sure it's isolated but that's what makes it special.

As a resident for all of my life, I'm going to give my insight on all the points he covered.

10. While we do refer to East River and West River, neither side really looks down on the other. It's mainly just a term to describe the different characteristics. West River is more mountainous, with forests and beautiful landscapes and ranches. East River is more flat, with endless, thriving fields scattered across many farms and ranches.

9. I have never really noticed people being terrible with numbers from where I live. There are a LOT of farmers around here, and they have to deal with measurements and numbers each day (i.e. measuring and calculating chemical usage). They do a lot of this work in their head. There probably are a few places where people are not the brightest, but I'd have to say that the survey was probably rather biased towards one area.

8. Yeah, Mount Rushmore itself is a little bit overrated. However, I do have to say, you can easily make a nice adventure out of it. In the area before Mount Rushmore, there is an ice cream shop that sells the BEST ice cream I have ever tasted. In addition, Mount Rushmore is in the center of beautiful mountains and forests. If you're a fan of hiking, there are plenty of trails in the area. In addition, the badlands are not too far away, and if you haven't driven through those, you're missing out. If you're still bored, Rapid City is just a hop away, and they have numerous small and large attractions.

7. Okay, for this one, you HAVE to know the rest of the facts. In South Dakota, you can begin driving by yourself at the age of 14 after driving with a parent for 3 months (Passing Driver's Education Course) or 6 months (Passing DMV Driver's Test). This gives an additional 2 YEARS for teens to be driving. Naturally, since more teens are on the road, the fatalities would be higher, especially if the study was per population.

6. I don't think I've ever heard of much corruption; at least, not what I consider corruption. There have been a few times were a few bucks were thrown into the general fund, but apart from that, there's not much of it whatsoever.

5. Yeah, there's a LOT of casinos in South Dakota, which probably encourages quite a few gambling problems. It's pretty bad; in a town of about 150 people, the gas station has a casino. So, yeah, this one's pretty accurate.

4. Okay, this one I have a problem with. This myth derives from people on the internet creating stereotypes JUST BECAUSE they've hardly ever heard of South Dakota. There is PLENTY to do here. We have stores for everything you could possibly imagine; we have fun activities like paintball, airsoft, laser tag, golf, ice rinks, race tracks, etc; and, of course, our outdoor activities. We pride ourselves on that last one; we are rather famous for our pheasant hunting, as well as other forms of hunting and fishing.

3. So, I don't know too much about this one, but if you're moving to South Dakota just to commit a crime, maybe you should be re thinking your life choices...

2. Okay, I believe that these are 100% true; I could definitely see that happening in South Dakota. It's a really fun culture. Anyhow, as for the sales part of Craigslist, there are TONS of listings for whatever you need. Most people buy their next vehicle via Craigslist, and they never seem to come up empty handed.

1. The way you've chosen the images looks like it's just combines and bison, and that's not accurate. Yes, it's definitely a lower populated state, but I consider it a very adaptive state, if you were to word it like that. For example, if you're looking for the city life, we have large, booming towns like Sioux Falls and Rapid City with plenty of new residential areas for you to look into. If you're looking for the suburban life, we have many medium towns that have plenty of stores and restaurants, but still have a bit of a home town feeling. Then, we have tiny towns and rural areas. When I say tiny, I mean TINY. Like, 150 people tiny. It may sound really lonely, but these tiny towns are only about 20 miles away from medium towns (And for those of you who don't know SD driving, that's about a 20 minute drive). So, overall, it's not just cow tippin' country. There's options here.

Overall, it's like you said at the end: It's not great for everyone. Some people just can't live like South Dakotans do. But, it's definitely not as terrible as some of these sections made it out to be. I like the video, and I can't be mad at you, because you were just working with what you had. I just dislike some of the source's information.

I lived in Rapid City about 30 years ago, and I loved it. It's my dream to retire there one day, or even just move back for a simpler life.

South Dokata Is great! And there’s many things to do. Plus there’s not that much crime here so I feel very safe.

It's September 2019. Will be retiring next year. And yes, I'm moving to South Dakota from Boston Massachusetts... let me explain why! Three main reasons, and it's what South Dakota does not have. Outrageous crime, ridiculous taxes on just about everything, and I saved the best for last, and it only requires one word " Democrats" !!!

The only way to actually find out why you shouldn't move to South Dakota is to ask the people that live here.

You have to be a little more man or a little more woman to live there it’s not for the weak or the faint of heart so city slickers stay home where you can get your Starbucks and Macy’s

I want to live here. Conservative, beautiful, cold, pro-gun, religous, and open. All great things to raise a family and live the life of Christian.

Years ago I lived in Mobridge SD and I just returned from a visit to Sturgis. South Dakota has very friendly and patriotic residents that will take the time to talk with you. Currently I live in California where it is rush rush all day long. I miss the hunting and fishing on the Oahe Reservoir. Briggs needs to do a video on the 10 reasons he is full of bison manure.

Talk about somewhere you actually know something about. I love living here.

I’m about to move to Sioux Falls at the age of 69. I’ve no connection with the state, but what I’ve experienced, is the America that we’ve lost over the past few decades. I am so looking forward to the big skies, the prairie breeze and the friendliness of its denizens.
