Simple movements REALLY add up ✅

Your joints are craving movement. But not all movement is the same. It’s important to find movements that feel good to you, especially when dealing with arthritis ☝🏽

When you’re waiting on something to cook, tea to boil, coffee to brew, it can be the PERFECT time to incorporate side or backwards steps to help support the hip and knee joints ✨

Moving in different directions can be helpful in activating other muscles, muscles that are vital to support the joints and are different than those typically worked in forwards walking 🙌🏼

When watching TV, there are many options for seated exercises, especially if your joints get stiff. Adding in 10-20 repetitions every 30-60 minutes can be a good place to start for most 🎉

When getting out of bed, joints can be really stiff. Add in seated or standing exercises to lubricate the joints so the first few steps aren’t as tough ✅

The exercise at the bed I’m demonstrating is a good one to loosen up the hips 👏🏼

Little movements during the day can really add up‼️

Doing baby squats while washing my teeth, walking on my toes to the kitchen, touching upper side of door passing through, mini push up with ellebows on kitchen cabinets, knee fidgeting sitting in the bathroom, glutes activating while sitting and watching tv... Small and frequently movements are making a big difference.

Thankyou Alyssa ❤️ I am feeling pretty depressed about my hip pain .Each time I see you I feel there is some hope for my situation other than replacement surgery which I am terrified of . I simply cannot imagine a big metal joint in my body 😢

I agree !! I do these types of movements every I still have chronic pain, but I know moving does help.

I have no meniscus in one knee and am bone on bone in both knees. I can't bear just standing still, it's so painful! So I automatically do those foot taps, rocking side to side etc. It all helps you get through the day.

Yup! As a person with both RA & osteoarthritis I can vouch for this. And if you are watching a movie, get up and move every 15 minutes. I do this even if I am out to dinner with friends. They know it prevents me from getting stiff and 'locking up.'
