How I got here…

21: Graduated Vanderbilt in 3 years Magna Cum Laude, and took a fancy consulting job.
23 yrs old: Left my fancy consulting job to start a business (a gym).
24 yrs old: Opened 5 gym locations.
26 yrs old: Closed down 6th gym. Lost everything.
26 yrs old: Got back to launching gyms (launched 33). Then, lost everything for a 2nd time.
26 yrs old: In desperation, started licensing model as a hail mary. It worked.
27 yrs old: "Gym Launch" does $3M profit the next 6 months. Then $17M profit next 12 months.
28 yrs old: Started Prestige Labs. $20M the first year.
29 yrs old: Launched ALAN, a software company for agencies to work leads for customers. Scaled to $1.7mmo within 6 months.
31 yrs old: Sold 75% of UseAlan to a strategic buyer in an all stock deal.
31 yrs old: Sold 66% of Gym Launch & Prestige Labs at $46.2M valuation in all-cash deal to American Pacific Group. (you can google it)
32 yrs old: Started making free content showing how we grow companies to make real business education accessible to everyone (and) to attract business owners to invest or scale their businesses.

Today: Our portfolio now does $200M/yr between 10 companies. The largest doing $100M/yr the smallest doing $5M per year. Our ownership varies between 20% and 100% ownership of the companies. Many of them we invested in early and helped grow (which is how we make our money - not youtube videos).

To all the gladiators in the arena, we’re all in the middle of writing our own stories. The worse the monsters, the more epic the story.

You either get an epic outcome or an epic story. Both mean you win.

Keep crushing. May your desires be greater than your obstacles.

Never quit,

Alex

*FULL DISCLOSURE*
I make content to make money - just - on a longer time horizon than most. I want to build trust with business owners so we can find the best ones and help them scale. And if they’re awesome, write them a check and go all the way as partners.

Remember that alex is enhanced, I don’t know if he is fully blasting or on TRT but you can get away with much less sleep on TRT since your testosterone is exogenous, natural individuals will require more sleep in order not to crash their T levels which is very essential

Getting 8 – 9 hours of sleep a night is, by far, the most underrated health advice. Sleep impacts every part of our health and wellness and to me, sleep hygiene is one of the most important things! Take care of yourself!

Sleep is something I’ve been battling with for the last few years. I usually get 5-6hrs/night but I’m making it a priority to get 7 now. So difficult.

If I go below 7 hours I can’t function. Even around 7 is kinda meh in terms of productivity. I really need my 8 hour minimum.

Don't mess with your sleep. The sandman will come get his time from you. Sleep is an unavoidable debt that must be paid.

I like this one thing Ruri Ohama says, which is she doesn’t mind the time she wakes up, but she’s really focused on her night routine and strict on going to bed at a certain time. I think for someone on the come up, especially on a fitness journey, this could be solid advice.
Not only is it better to let one troubleshoot for fluctuations, going to sleep earlier if your body decides it needs more, but it helps to focus on your night routine and sleep quality, ensuring well replenished energy for the day ahead.

I know I’m doing the wrong thing when I’m not excited

When I switched to a carnivore diet, my body’s sleep requirements automatically lowered, and I woke up energized every morning!!

I do the same thing. But I usually get up earlier when I have a big project that I’m working on. I wake up with ideas.

I get about 5-6 hours of sleep every night but I’ll nap for like an hour during the day just to make some of the rest I’m lacking. I work from home so I have that comfort. I’ll usually not stress too much about not sleeping enough at night and schedule some time during the day to take a nap.

No offense Alex, love ya, but you're the guy with both the best business advice and worst health/nutrition advice on the planet.

I used to only get 4 to 5 hours of sleep and I was okay. I can’t anymore. These days I just score for 6-7 and I’m okay.

Usually I go to bed between 11:00 pm and 12:30 am. But For whatever reason, I just seem to always wake up between 3:30 am and 6:30 am. But because I'm so health conscious and the recommendation is 8 hours of sleep, I normally go right to bed after waking up say at 4:30 am. What I am going to start doing now os tgat whn I wake up again in the early hours, I will not go hack to bed amd I will see what sort of inspiration I can discover in the early hours of dawn.

I need the 8... funny I was just watching Alex's sleep routine and thought he had great guidelines... then I see this but I think everyone's body is different. Still in the sixes is low.

Not going to lie, I’ve experimented with sleep so much. For me it’s either 6 hours of sleep, or 10 hours of sleep. If I sleep 6, I wake up feeling amazing, but if I don’t get up the second I hear the alarm, I’m not going to wake up. Then when I sleep 10 hours I also feel great but after consistently doing it, it starts feeling weird. Anything in between makes me feel like shit

Personally I have to get 7 or my work quality suffers. It might be just a mental thing but I really value my health.

And I mean 7 sleep hours not hours lying in bed
