Repentance if your sins and faith in Jesus Christ is the Biblical answer to salvation from our sins? What is Baptism then?

Peter also teaches in 1 Peter 3:20-21 that “baptism doth also now save you.” Peter never, ever said that salvation is by faith “ALONE.”

Baptism washes away our sins that we have repented. Be baptized in the Name of Jesus Christ for the remission of your sins .

How do you have faith in Jesus when you refuse to be baptized when you are able?

This is so lazy. Then what is baptism for? Taking a bath? To understand baptism biblically is to understand the gospel. Baptism is NOT a Work. It was NOT part of the Law of Moses. You’re desecrating scripture and the beauty of baptism as when a believer changes their life and repents of the sins (Godly sorrow) and then is baptized in Jesus’ name - they partake in the death, burial & resurrection of Jesus Christ. Rom 6

It is YOUR faith in Christ that raises you (Col 2:12). You’re not doing any work. It is Christ who does the work and does the circumcising.

The people listened to Paul preach. And they believed in their heart unto salvation. In so doing, they received the Holy Spirit PRIOR to being baptized, indicating they had become born again/saved.

“Can anyone forbid water, that these should not be baptized who have received the Holy Spirit just as we have?” Acts 10:47

According to Ephesians 2: 8-9, salvation is through God's grace and faith in him, NOT BY ANY WORKS, of which baptism pertains (Since baptism is something we DO, it is a "work" and cannot save us.)
God alone saves according to Acts 4:12.
"No other Name by which we MUST be SAVED." No other Name but JESUS. ❤️✝️🙏

Baptism is an appeal to God in good conscience to save us1st Peter 3 verse 21. Also all of the Apostles were baptized, as was the Eunich, as was the house of Cornelius. In fact Jesu Christ ( God himself ) said in Mark 16 verse 16 - Mark 16:16
[16]He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned. Then Peter comes along with Acts 2 verse 38.
Repent and be baptized for the REMISSION of sin in the name of Jesus Christ and thou shall receive the Gift of the Holy Spirit speaking in other tongues.
Ill take Gods word over any man!

Adhering to the "Saved by grace alone" or "Just believe" doctrine while throwing all the other verses out the window is a pretty gutsy move.

Taking only Acts 16:30-31 as the entirety of the bible would tell us that no repentance of any kind is needed for salvation. In addition, only the person asking what he needed to do to be saved would need to "believe". This infers that the rest of his house could be complete atheists, yet be saved.

Are we having a contest to water down the Word of God until it has absolutely no effect?

If so, the entire population of the earth should read ONLY Titus 3:5 and see that Jesus already saved us by His mercy and we don't have to do a single thing.

Titus 3:5 Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost

If we take this one verse literally, without reading any other in the bible, one could come to the conclusion that:

1) They don't even have to "Believe in Jesus" to be saved, because this verse doesn't say anything about belief.

2) They don't need to hear the Word

3) They don't need to read the Word

3) No relationship with God/Jesus/Holy Spirit is needed.

4) Hell is completely empty because everyone already got saved by His "mercy".

5) Sin as much as you want to, because repentance (to turn away from sin) wasn't specifically mentioned in this verse.

If this is the case, then ask yourself: Why is there even a judgment of man (Revelation 20:12-15)? And why is there even a Bible?

<End Sarcasm>

If one is going to take the "minimalist" doctrine to the nth degree, then you should end up something similar to the above.

Take this approach and you will eventually find out that God is NOT playing around. He will not be mocked and ignored. In flaming fire, God will take vengeance on those that do not know Him and do not obey the Gospel of Jesus Christ (2 Thessalonians 1:8-9).

The Word of God commands us to make our calling and election "sure", not "wishy-washy" (2 Peter 1:10). It also instructs us to study the word to show ourselves approved (2 Timothy 2:15).

The best policy is to read the ENTIRE Word of God for yourself to find out what the TRUE DOCTRINE and TRUE GOSPEL really is and then OBEY that gospel. If you are geniunely seeking God, He will most definitely fill in the blanks on any questions you have. All you have to do is ask Him.

Don't take wreckless chances.

When the disciples preached the Gospel, what did the hearers of that gospel actually do? They repented. They got baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of their sins. They received the Promise of the Father - The baptism of the Holy Ghost.

I wouldn’t argue that way for the Greek man. Doesn’t give credence to the grammer

May also help to understand that baptisms didn’t always mean of water. Jesus himself thought this when he said he would be baptized/submerged in pain.

Submitting to baptism for the forgiveness of sins is having faith in Christ that’s what he told us to do to be saved so we have faith in him and do it. Your twisting scripture. The Greek word used for “for” means receiving after in that verse. Case closed.

I’m nervous because I was baptized by the mormon church when I was 8 years old, but I’m now a born again Christian and deleted my mormon church membership and I’m unsure if the mormon baptism is valid in the eyes of God. It’s a typical standard baptism, the mormons don’t add anything special to it, but I think I’ll be baptized by a regular protestant church to be safe.

“Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death? Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life. For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection: knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin.”
‭‭Romans‬ ‭6‬:‭3‬-‭6‬ ‭KJV‬‬

For those who are against salvation by faith alone, I would like to give you some verses, how do you reconcile this verses with your theology? Galatians 2:16, Romans 3:28, Romans 5:1, Romans 4:5, Romans 4:3, John 5:24, John 3:16, Galatians 3:24, James 3:23, Galatians 5:6, Acts 16:31, John 3:36.

Where in the Bible does it say baptism is a public declaration of your faith or a symbol? Why don't you just say it in a loud voice or make a public post?

jaheltamayo

Where do you get the idea that baptism is “a publicly declarative act”. What a strawman. You invented this definition. Baptism is an act of faith on our part. Peter also doesn’t mention repentance when he doesn’t mention baptism. I guess we don’t need to repent.

This a an argument of silence.. though a lot of passages says baptism that saves too!

And lastly baptism is not a public declaration most baptisms we’re in private or 1 on 1 in acts 🤦🏻🤦🏻🤦🏻🤦🏻This man does not need a pulpit. He’s doing so much harm.
