I always disliked being called sensitive growing up. There is such a negative association with it, like you are weak, but I think I came to look at it like that due to the environment I was raised in. Thanks for this video, I feel much better about being a sensitive person! I think it's one of the reasons I make a good mom and friend.

I always thought I was a highly sensitive person from the way I coped (or didn't cope) with life in general. Turns out I was autistic (diagnosed 18 months ago, aged 61).

Thank you. Your videos have been really helping me understand that I am autistic. I am starting to get a bit weirded out that your videos hit on exactly the things that I am going through. For the first time in my life I don’t feel like there is something wrong with me. I’m just wired different 🙏

"If you're in your element, you can thrive." These are such important words.
20+ years ago I took a test at work that labeled me as an INTP. About 10 years ago, I found that I'm an HSP after questioning why I feel too much. And now it's becoming clearer that I'm probably autistic. Simple things like taking a break when feeling overwhelmed, or asking for clearer expectations for certain tasks or roles do help, regardless of whether you have a trait or a diagnosis.

Common Orion Kelly win.

I'd argue that HSP are often neurodivergent, but allistic.

Thank you for this video. I have diagnosed Autistic friends who are good at recognizing and expressing their feelings - and I, as a Highly Sensitive Person - experience this (HSP) as Dis-abling. Does anyone else feel like there's much more yet to be discovered about this topic?

I thought I was HSP for a while since it explained a lot of the reasons why I always felt off and different from everyone else, but figuring out that I have autism made so much more sense and it makes me feel at ease and okay because I'm finally allowing myself to be me, which I still couldn't with just the HSP label. Great video!

Im going to be talking about this with my therapist, but I may have both! I know Im a HSP but I kinda felt like there was something more. After watching a couple of your videos it made me realize that it may be possible that I am on the spectrum in some way! Thank you for sharing this it really helped!

I'm both, an HSP and autistic (Asperger's) and it can be extremely overwhelming sometimes. You're absolutely right, taking care of myself and my needs first makes a huge difference...now I just have to overcome the feelings of guilt for doing that! Great topic.

Well said, thank you for this. Us HSP's are like the deer in the herd that watch over the deer that are eating/sleeping. Highly aware of things around them, spot changes in the environment, noticing the smell of predators first etc.

I practised the saying NO! My dog took off to another Your videos speak to me, and really help. I am in my 70 s and found i was autistic when i searched it put because some of my grandchildren were diagnosed. It has been a relief, but too late in life! I should have set boundaries and said No! Over the last sixty years, and wasnt confident enough to do it. Now i am, and it really helps to keep unwanted people and trouble away. Thank you for getting down to the problems we face that bring depression and mistrust into our lives. We shouldnt have to live that way.

I definitely think now that I'm a highly sensitive person, but i really dislike that term because it makes me sound like a princess! LOL. I don't think I am autistic after listening to this, even though I do resonate with a lot of the autistic traits. I'm 67 and still trying to figure things out! Thank you Orion for all you do!
