How I stopped being a ‘victim’ and restarted my life | Arman Abrahimzadeh | TEDxAdelaide

A label can stick, especially if people get to know someone through the lens of the mainstream media. Arman Abrahimzadeh's journey began when the media labelled him a 'victim' after his mother was murdered by his father in front of hundreds of witnesses.

Not willing to be known as a 'victim', through his continuous advocacy and community work in raising awareness of domestic violence, Arman changed the perception of the media, the general public and even his perception of himself.

Arman Abrahimzadeh established The Zahra Foundation to provide women who leave abusive relationships the opportunity to gain new skills and employment, and find safe homes for their families. He is an ambassador for White Ribbon and Our Watch, and a dedicated board and committee member for a number of organisations focused on ending disadvantage, including family violence.

The professionals keep you a victim to make their money from your suffering. I am a survivor of DV but refuse to be their victim anymore. Professionals still causing me problems but I will not be defined by their greed. I am committed to a good life a better future

Fantastic talk. Your passion about spreading the word about DV, will lead to some women’s life somewhere being saved. I am a survivor of DV, it still affects my life, but like you I have used it as a foundation for a career to help and inspire others.

Awesome content - Destroying victim mindsets is so important! It's something I discuss in the latest video on my channel as well, & providing a blueprint for my child on how to be tough & not embody victim mentalities. Thank you for the content.

Well belief is something that should be reasonable and evolving. Or some people may choose reality over belief.

Your mother might have taught you well..but you need to take the next step, go on the next level by refining your understanding/view of the world.

Take care of your health man. World need you.
