Ran into the "Acquire" issue trying to get my church system set up for better live-streaming. This video explained everything perfectly! Thank you so much!

Ray! Now my 24ai sits by the stage and I am 200 feet away sipping coffee with a 13" macbook pro, usb c to thunderbolt 2 dongle to a thunderbolt 2 to gigiabit dongle. The dude at the apple store looked at me like I was nuts. But it works with zero complaint. Boom, 24 analog channels. I would have never figured out I needed 2 dongles. Thank you. Thank you very much.

Hi Ray, thanks so much for this tutorial! I finally got all my audio gear (motu interface, studiolive mixer and mac pro) to work together! It's a pleasure with AVB!

Just want to say this helped me set up my M1 Macbook Pro with my Motu 16A and Ableton. I had to do some more steps due to the Motu matrix routing but finally worked it out. Now I can connect my outboard gear to my M1 with one cat6 cable. Tahnk you.

Nice!!! Love it.

A third way to get to the avb stuff is through audio midi setup.

I was trying to set this up on my new Mac Studio M2 Max (Studiolive 32sc & NSB 16.8), some differences in the AVB util. No simple virtual audio window any more. It's all under the ATDECC controller. With those differences in mind, I did enable it on the new mac studio, but could never get return audio out of the mains. Banged my head against this for a few days until I broke down and got a specific avb thunderbolt adapter (sonnet thunderbolt avb adapter). Worked like a charm, got return audio out the mains. I'm not sure if there's been changes to the internal nic on the studio or not but I thought it would be a good idea to post this here in case others are having the same issue.

Thanks for the clear explanation... took me nearly an hour from reading "mac supports AVB natively" to understanding "but not with most macbooks that dont have build in ethernet because USB ethernet you might use there doesnt support it by 99% chance - you must have a mac with built in ethernet...

going to try this. use case is looking for way to route audio from macbook to the studio machine, macbook is used as audio effect processor for live input. macbook does not have a native eithernet so hoping i can get this working using a eithernet dongle via usb c/ thunderbolt. i have all machines eithernet via my virgin fiber hub at the moment for my network moving files around. im thinking i will probably need to make a direct eithernet LAN connection between the two machines for this to work. really glad to have found your video. many thanks :)

Hey Ray, It's been over a year since this has been recorded. Bring on some more AVB videos/tutorials. I would love to see a complete start to finish with examples showing you actually going into the console menus and show us how to set this up. I tried last night but the subscriptions in the matrix never gave me a check mark in the box. Only an X in the box. Does the console need to be set to Network or internal sync. Can the ethernet AVB be on the same switch as my other Ethernet things. I was trying simply with an Ethernet cable from the console to the Mac, no switch involved.
thanks, you da man!

Thank you for this video! Unfortunately for me, I just upgraded to a new MacStudio and it came running Sonoma. They seem to have changed a in the last three years and this doesn't work anymore. Can't find any tutorials specific to Sonoma (or Ventura...not sure when the setup changed) and I can't seem to figure out what's going on. The Mac does not show the AVB devices as being available in the Audio setup and I can't get it to work in acquired or any other mode for that matter. It doesn't show up in Network Device setup. I'm at a complete loss.

Thanks for the explanation! A use case it's not mentioned but it totally works is setting up to 64 channels between two Macs with just an ethernet cable. Adding Loopback to the equation you can have routing independent from the DAW and share the same regular (non AVB) USB device (or aggregated devices) I/O between those two computers! It's amazingly stable and latency is great. Audio routed to the same interface output is summed.
Super useful for live uses like redundancy setups, two people (two DAW) performances, offloading CPU, audio and video/light independent processes (audio reactivity) and maaany more stuff I can't think of now. If you happen to have two Macs, I suggest to make a video specifically for a two Mac setup with USB audio interface, a lot of people would be interested. Cheers!

Looks like it's time for a follow-up, trying to translate this video into what the current settings are, and am struggling a bit.

Thanks for the informative video. I'm new to all this, so does this mean I can daisy chain a mac with a stagebox? To access the avb network?

HI Ray, thank you for the tutorial. I use your suggested adapters and followed all the steps but It seems it is different for Ventura. Can you please guide me how can I turn my Mac Book Pro 2019, Ventura macOS into an AVB end point? Thank you!
