Why You Need Healthy Boundaries (To Change Your Life) | Dr. Gabor Maté"
In this eye-opening video, renowned physician and trauma expert Dr. Gabor Maté dives deep into the importance of setting healthy boundaries and how they can dramatically improve your mental health and overall well-being. Dr. Maté explains the critical difference between curing symptoms and truly healing the root causes of emotional and psychological pain.

Drawing on his vast experience, Dr. Maté explores how trauma disconnects us from our authentic selves and why reconnecting with our true identity is essential for lasting healing. You'll learn why modern medicine often overlooks this vital step, focusing instead on symptom management through medication rather than addressing the underlying issues like depression and anxiety.

In this video, Dr. Maté also discusses the transformative power of engaging in meaningful activities—such as creativity, art, and setting personal boundaries—to foster personal growth, inner peace, and fulfillment.

Key Takeaways:

Why healthy boundaries are crucial for your mental and emotional health
The connection between trauma and disconnection from your true self
How modern medicine treats symptoms without addressing the real problem
Ways to use creativity and purpose-driven activities to reclaim your life
Practical steps to set boundaries that promote healing and growth
Whether you're struggling with emotional pain, feeling disconnected, or simply looking to understand the deeper aspects of self-healing, this video offers powerful insights that could change your life.

This is happening to me. My allele burden is almost not perceptible anymore (I have a bone marrow cancer). REAL healing is possible and it happens through becoming whole. That sense of wholeness for me happened in that the illness was a wake-up call to myself. I had to ask myself, "why is this happening to me? What am I to learn here? Once I got past the anger and confusion, the answers were there. I wish this healing for everyone.

The amazing thing I've found if you respectfully say no you often get a much better response than you thought. It doesn't all go down the drain. Usually the other person understands and says that's absolutely fine

I'm watching this video for the third time (and counting). I'm 57 and have partly (too much) accepted my dysfunctional family of origin's rules. I will have barely survived materially, failed a few suicides, always looked for sense, common sense, basic self respect and confidence. I've moved abroad for 18 years (to the antipodes, where further from them could I have gone?). I came back because they were still poisoning my mind. A hellish life in my mind. I recently went back to do zazen, alone, it's hard, but I found a channel to practice alone, beginning with 5 mn sessions (don't laugh! Or do...). And finally I succeeded in doing it alone, not just to respect the other sitters. And I take the habit again, 5 days per week, and now I'm at 10 mn sessions, will tackle 15 seriously when my back (scoliosis) is strong enough, but it's slowly improving. I think the almost daily habit is more important than the length of time. I did practice "seriously"(meaning a few hundreds of hours every year for 3 years) then got pregnant and gave up. The days I don't sit I feel a lack. I'm learning to say no and think of myself first. So hard! And loosing my few friends in the meantime, without too much regret though, I can see why we were friends brfore, and it wasn't positive for me. Luckily I an used to solitude, can handle it. Thank you channel, thank you Gabor Maté. And to watchers who have read my bla bla, I wish you lots of strengh, courage, but know that you are definitely on the right path to healing. Thank you all for being❣

* The Climate Change myth is what had been, and still is reaping huge financial benefits (for some).

* Redemption of a community might be a painfully slow process, yet is always rooted in the redemption of individuals.

I love what you are doing for traumatized people but please don't become another social justice warrior! I don't get why it's necessary to bring out your political views!
