In this video, Nikon Canada’s Mark Cruz discusses the new D7500, a DX-format camera aimed at photo enthusiasts which slots in between the D7200 and D500.

With flagship performance in a compact yet rugged form, the D7500 shares quite a few features with the top-of-the-line D500:
- 20.9MP CMOS sensor with no Optical Low Pass Filter
- EXPEED 5 processor that enables an amazing ISO range of 100-51,200
- 180,000-pixel RGB metering sensor
- 4K UHD video quality

Combine those D500 features with an 8fps continuous drive mode and a 51-point autofocus system that's improved from the D7200, and the new D7500 offers some impressive features whether you’re looking to take it on vacation, shoot some low-light action or record some breathtaking videos.

Hi Nikon, why did you remove the second card slot? Two card slots is highly important to have in a camera.

I have this camera and is awesome, the amount of people on here saying it's not a pro camera make me laugh my head off.
It's not the camera that makes a professional photographer....

This is basically the D7200 for videographers right? I definitely would not have removed the 2nd card slot and I'm pretty sure most will not approve of the resolution drop unless there is drastically different high ISO performance. The D7200 did 6fps with EXPEED 4 and 100 images. I'm supposed to be impressed that with the Expeed 5 and lower resolution you can only handle 50 images at the slightly higher 8fps? For photographers, I think I would either chose the D7200 or D500 but this D7500 just seems odd.

you yanked NOT ONLY the 2nd SD card, but ALSO the AI/AIS indexing ring, no vertical grip possible, $999 yes, $1250 N.O.P.E. This is the D5700, not the D7500.
For $1250 you should have AT LEAST dropped a joystick on this.

I need some help again: I just bought a semi new D7500 (less than 3k shots) and everything was fine. Now sometimes when I turn it on the screen doesn’t show the main settings and it doesn’t show quickly the picture taken (even when the setting on). All the other options work properly on the screen. I turn it off and on around 4 times and it goes back to normal, but soon it starts showing the same problem. I already updated the firmware and restored the original settings…

Will the D7500 have auto AF fine tune? My 60mm f/2.8 is completely off balance and the manual AF fine tune gives variable results.

Getting a new camera is always exciting. Lots of people depends on camera to do all the works so they just have to push the button. In fast action shots, there is not much choice. In most cases, you do have time to do settings. I really have to wonder, is it that much better when you do full manual settings like Matt does? Is a simple Sekonic light meter far superior than the camera's light meter? Is setting your White Balance far superior than the camera's white balance? And if you do both, then does the camera really makes that much ofa difference?

Hi the D7500 does not seem very popular reading people's comments. However I do applaud you for making a lighter camera and with a flip screen. I do have one question which is whether D lenses will auto focus on the D7500? Good luck with the new camera but in a real life none Pro situation the D7100/2 offer much better value and Pro's will give it a wide berth. I like Nikon equipment but like the Df and the excellent Coolpix A this does not offer much more & you soon will be discounting to move product.

Nikon clearly targets the enthusiasts market NOT the pros with this piece hence the single SD slot. It has been developed to sit above the DINKY models but not have enough to be in a position to challenge the D500 sales. Something like what Fuji did with their XT2 / XT20 models. Is it a deal breaker for enthusiasts the fact that it carries only 1 card slot? Don't think so. Is it a deal breaker that it does not support AIS lenses? Again no, most of these guys will buy the camera with the kit lens and probably never think of buying another lens ever. 8 FPS, touch / tilty screen, 4K recording, awesome sensor and A/F, amazing ISO performance, and expeed 5 awesomeness, these are the points to make it an attractive option for NON PROs, and I think it will do very well. If anyone needs more features in a camera then they will simply have to opt for the D500 full stop.If anyone expects that Nikon will include everything that the D500 offers in a cheaper version it will NEVER happen, Just my two cents.

Why do people knock the 7500?, its a better camera full stop than the 7200. Who gives a toss about the second card slot really, just carry a spare if your that worried. I most certainly would buy the 7500 over the 7200. its a no brainer, its got better specs and 4k video. Its funny how all the 7200 owners out there are pissed off that something similar but better is releases so soon after the 7200. I think it the 7200 is a slightly better 5600 and the 7500 is a slightly worse D500. That the true way to see these cameras.

I don't get it ... At 5:15 of the video it says "All three cameras (D7200, D7500 and D500) will be current in Nikon's line up"...but didn't Nikon mentioned they are going to focus on top end line or be more focused on their product in one of their interviews?
Also only 1 SD card slot? I don't do duel SD card for my D7100 is because of that super tiny buffer and although D7200 is better, but it is still a huge pain. Now Nikon has solved the buffer problem, but now only with one card slot?

Also, what happened to the AI indexing ring?

Was really looking forward to this to upgrade my D7100, but since it removes the 2nd slot + AI/AIS indexing ring... a it doesn't look any smaller... it's seems great otherwise, but it's a no deal for me... so disappointed. :(

D7500 seems to be more about marketing than improvement. It doesn't seem like an update to D7200 at all. One step froward 2 steps back... 2 additional frames per second and 1 stop better ISO performance are not enough compensation for the loss of the 2nd SD card slot, no battery grip connectors and no compatibility with the old manual focus lenses. Not to mention lower resolution censor, although newer tech.
D7200 and D500 each occupy a different niche, each with its own strengths and weaknesses and used for different types of photography.
Instead of trying to bridge the gap between D7200 and D500, the smarter update to the D7*** line for Nikon would be to expend on the strengths of the D7200. For example, with the newer sensor technology, they could have increased the resolution to 30MP while keeping the same ISO performance (which BTW wasn’t bad at all, although not nearly as good as D500’s) and also kept the same fps.
I honestly don’t think it was a smart move by Nikon and personally, it makes me glad I made a decision about 2 months ago to switch from Nikon (sold everything including D7200) to the Fuji X-T2 system. By the way, this decision was purely personal and had nothing to do with Nikon or the direction they were taking with their camera updates about which I had no clue at the time.

Please suggest me which one to buy canon 80d or Nikon d7500. I am a photo enthusiast and also prefer good image quality.

If this was mirrorless like the Nikon 1 series I would buy one immediately! Until then I'll wait for a J6.

Hello all! Thank you for your feedback on our latest product announcement. The D7500 packs many of the D500 features into a camera body that’s significantly smaller and lighter. Unfortunately, that means that a single card slot was used to make this camera even more compact while making room for the new internal components.
