D7500 is an excellent camera. It feels great in my small hands. I wouldn't want a bigger or heavier camera. It feels perfect. It feels high quality, with the carbon fiber frame and rubber grips all around. Knobs and dials feel strong. The sensor is very capable in low light. AF is great, just like D500, with same processor too, only difference is D7500 has slightly smaller focus points area (no problem for me because I use single point AF-C with back button AF). I don't want full frame because Crop sensor gives me better reach for sports and wildlife. The D7500 has 4k video, faster processor, tilting touchscreen, more buffer, and better low light sensor than D7200.

Great camera! I bought the D7500 when it was released. This, for me, was a natural upgrade progression from the D7000 and the D70 before that with an investment in DX lenses. With an SB-800 and SB-900 in my kit, compatibility with the Nikon Creative Lighting System was another deciding factor for me.

I bought Nikon D7500 this year and I think it is enough for me. I don't shoot weddings or other events. I simply use it as hobbyist and I must say that no battery grip and only one card slot are not an issues for me. It is much better when it comes to fast action shooting than D7200. I tested my D7500 and it is capable to shot more than 50 14 bit RAW - and if anybody asks me whether I use it? Yes I use it frequently. This is not camera crated for weddings - if you want data redundancy and grip go and buy D7200. Yes, you can use it for weddings or other events, but this camera is made especially for action shooting. I took almost 1000 shots on one battery and I think it is quite enough. If you are not professional I highly recommend D7500. I also had doubts - whether should I buy D7200 or D7500. I choose D7500 due to its action performance, tilting and touch screen which I found very useful. This camera is simply very good camera. Please, compare it to SONY APS-C models (A6xxx series) and think how it will be handled with lenses similar to Sigma 150-600, 100-400 or other heavy and pro lenses - ergonomics is very important. And please, don't say that your iPhone or other super hiper smartphone with four 100 MPix cameras will create better images of fast flying birds with quality which can be compared to photo taken with D7500 and any good telephoto lens - this always make me laugh when I hear this. I compared photo from iPhone to photo taken with old Nikon D3000 and this old Nikon beats the photo from iPhone even D3000 is the lowest entry level model.

Great camera but should I buy it in 2020, especially when we are being bombarded with the mirrorless? I mean how long Nikon is going to maintain its DSLR segment?

Have been using this camera for over a year right now and it's an "Epitome of Cripple Hammer" ... Nikon should be ashamed of this product. You guys killed the good 7000 series with this. No battery grip support was a bad move along with a very old focusing system. On top of that, cropped 4k video .... like why???? It can record that much data per sec but u killed the line. I don't know why Nikon is playing so dumb. Come on guys, u r a 100+-year-old company - u know-how market works. Don't let cameras with 11-bit color depth steal your market share.
