So, just wanted to share a couple things that differentiate the D500 and this camera. The loss of the flash on the d500 may be an issue for some users (though since it is aimed to the professional market it really should not be a problem) however Nikon left it out to give a bigger viewfinder image and for increased weather resistance. As i mentioned bigger viewfinder, better body rigidity and weather sealing. D7500 lost its ability to meter with the older lenses and secondary card slot. I was in the same place and just replaced my d7000 about six months ago, so I did alot of research here. The D500 also got much better buffer, auto focus, and more. The d7500 is a step up in many ways and I'm sure you'll be quite happy with it coming from the d7000, however it is defintely not on the same page as a d500. My money would have been on the d7200 if I hadn't wanted to spend the money on the d500... Don't worry about the camera you bought as I'm sure you will be more than happy with it and it will take dramatically better images than the d7000. By the time you buy your next camera they will be so much farther along it really won't matter. For perspective my progression was D40, D7000, and now D500...
